  1. My posters showed up today, and I have to say...these are much nicer than I expected. These are not the flimsy, roll-up posters that you are used to seeing in the malls and Walmarts. The paper is almost a card stock weight, and the printing is top notch. I'm not sure where I am going to put these yet, but all of the posters just beg to be framed and hung up. If you have not made arrangements to get these, you are missing out. They are well worth the purchase price even before you consider that proceeds are going to the 2.6 liter site upkeep. Step-up and get a set, you won't be disappointed. Free bump for a job well done Kate and Mark. Thanks. JR
  2. I can still make these if anyone wants them. They are hand made, so it takes a little time and (nice weather), but I am still willing The link Colin posted will work, but not right out of the box. The HVAC control area is not DIN sized, it is jut a bit larger. But that is not much of a challenge to mod for a Starquester. IF anyone is interested, PM me for costs and details. JR
  3. IF you are not going to make anywhere near 300hp, 2.5" is fine. The DP is the key (and most expensive to have made) to a good fitting system, and if you have a complete one, you can fabricate the rest with just a few mandrel bends off Ebay. If you can do this yourself, you should be able to get away with spending $100 or so plus a muffler. If you have to pay someone to install/fabricate, you might be better off splurging for someone's "ready-to-install" system. JR
  4. coolant temp sensor maybe?
  5. That site is going thru a lot of changes recently, hopefully for the better. ScottyGibb can be reached here or he frequents 2.6 liter chat. He is also one of the people to help with the issues on the other site. JR
  6. You can thank ScottyGibb in part for that. He is performing a little house cleaning over at the *DM website. Trying to create a more positive focus. JR
  7. http://www.starquestclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=103407 Time is getting short, get your registrations in. If we can get to 30 paid registrations by the deadline, I will donate a turbo-back exhaust system to be given away to a registered attendee. This is over a $300 value. There are plenty of other prizes as well as the chance to meet other members in person. Hope to see everybody there. JR
  8. I thought that might get everyone's attention. We have about 1 month till the registration deadline for Branson. There are already several great prizes that will be given away at this gathering, but I am going to add one more with one stipulation. IF WE REACH 30 PAID REGISTRATIONS BY THE DEADLINE, I WILL GIVE AWAY A FREE STANDARD FIT TURBO BACK EXHAUST SYSTEM This will be a separate giveaway from all the other prizes, so everyone that registers will be eligible. If you haven't registered for either the meet or the shootout or both, time is getting short. Get with Larry or Phil, or look up the thread in the meets forum. Hope to see everyone there. JR
  9. The failure is in the way we have allowed the leading administrations to do their bookkeeping. They are constantly allowed to operate in the red, with little regard to the programs that the money is spent on. I will concede that there are times when operating with a debt is going to be necessary, but in every other aspect of life, when you are short on something, rationing and conservation is the first reaction. Our government has (for several administrations now) gotten in the habit of rationalizing every personal/political project and deeming it absolutely necessary. In my mildly neive opinion, if we need the money for new programs detrimental to the welfare of the nation, we should first look at cutting out funding to programs less "important". Do we really need to pump billions of dollars into NASA tosee what is on Mars if a great deal of America can't put food on the table? Put into place legislation to prevent tacking on a "perk" to an important bill in order to get it funded. Quit making deals to exempt certain groups from their fair share of the monitary burden just to get a vote or two. "Renegotiate" benefits to the governmental management both current and retired, (i.e senators, congressmen, cabinet members) as they have "suggested" other companies do to stay afloat.
  10. IF you are using teflon tubing for the fuel, make sure to ground the line with a strap regularly as it will gather static electricity. JR
  11. At your age, you might want to look at the cost in insurance on those cars before buying. I have seen those under 25 buy a nice sports car, onl;y to find out that the monthly insurance payment exceeds the car payment. I have owned a few SuperCoupes, and they are no slouch. The V8 t-bird is just as fast tho, and cheaper to own. Another option is a lower milage Impala SS (RWD version), or even an N/A Stealth R/T. All of those are nice in the fun and power area, and a little nicer on the wallet for insurance. For $15k, you could build a nice version of any number of cars that would get you what you want, and still be able to afford to drive it regularly. JR
  12. Would it be better to swap out a matched compressor wheel and exhaust? I most likely have both somewhere in the garage. Looks like was getting close to the housing anyway. Good time for a freshening up.
  13. Hit me up is you need a little better bracket.
  14. Shipped USPS. Should see it by Monday at the latest.
  15. I have responded to all the emails that I have received. I have these in stock and ready to go. $45 to jolyrgr@lycos.com. Plenty of colors to choose from, green, gray, blue, silver, red. I am on a 24/7 on call work schedule,so things get hectic at times. I try to check the boards when I can. JR
  16. I have been thru this a few times. UPS insurance is for the shipper, not the recipient ( unless you are shipping to yourself). Many vendors will insure to the cost of replacement, not necessarily the price the item sold at. It is the responsibility of the shipper to make things right. You can't really blame UPS, because their "contract" was with the person initiating the shipment. It sucks if you are the guy that paid for a now useless product, but that is realistically the only way they can do business. With higher value shipments from sellers that I do not know, I have sometimes set-up the shipment myself, or had the seller ship on my UPS account. Since the agreement is now with me, UPS deals with me, on my terms rather than the person that already has my money. Setting up an account costs nothing, and it can gain piece of mind (and sometimes a discount). Doesn't help you this time, but maybe next time? JR
  17. Those are technically the straightline black seats. They are prone to fade to that bluish tinge as they sun-bleach. Fairly easy to get back to black. That is a pretty rare interior combo. JR
  18. Burton is running one of my 105amp alternators in his car without any issues. I mention him because THIS is all that he is running. He has mentioned that he noticed a marked difference in the power availability, especially for the subs. You may already know this, but if you are one of those that listens to deep, hard hitting bass...make sure you budget for some capacitors. Caps will give you a much better sound and it takes a tremendous strain off of your charging system. Running large subs with high power needs will prematurely kill even the best of alternators. Something else to think about....if you are considering using the CS-130 family of alternators, when you start winding up above 130 amps, the cases have a difficult time dispersing the heat generated. A set-up I have seen work before is to use 1 or 2 remote mounted rectifiers to both split up the load and to place at least half of the heat sinks in a more optimum location for cooling. That should give you better power generating capabilities and take the heat-soak away from the alternator casing. Sorry for the run-on, but I hope some of this was helpful. If you need a GM style alternator, Tim C.'s shop or my shop can provide you with something that will foot the bill.
  19. You can usually find an older digital8 sony that has interchangeable lenses for $300 or less. Not HD, but they will upload to the computer just fine. JR
  20. The mounting lug set-up for the ones I have is from an 87 Camaro V8. As Tim C. mentioned, the generic parts-slingers will not have the same quality unit that the shops do. Larger bearings, better rectifiers and better cooling capabilities are the biggest gains, but most of theirs will come with a serpentine pully rather than the v-belt you need. Chances are that if you have one of these already, a local starter repair shop can rebuild the unit for 1/2 to 1/3 the cost of a new unit. I have never had to spend more than $50 to get one back to pristine order. JR
  21. If you just want to make sure you aren't going to lean the car out, a narrow-band is fine. If you are want to have the ability to tune the car and optimize your modifications, the wide-band is the better choice. JR
