Which throttlebody for the Magna?
heefner replied to BIL's topic in MPI/Standalone Trials and Tribulations
I don' t believe there is a list but a week or 2 ago, as Chad mentioned, there was much talk about what models and even what key words to search on. Speaking of which... DO a SEARCH! -
It came back from the balancer. I haven't been to the shop to weigh it but at least it was balanceable. Its being sent out this week to get polished and  magnafluxed. It better not be cracked or I'm going to be pissed. I should have had that done first but I F'd up.

How do you have a manual line lock? Do search I put a line lock in my car and so did SQF Its really quite simple once you work out the fittings. I think the metric fittings are 1.5 or 1.0 thread pitch. Pretty sure its 1.5.
-
I'm not going to bother with getting mine re hardened. The way I see it the crank spins on a film of oil so in theory it really doesn't need to be hardened to begin with.

That custom mpi looks a whole bunch like EIP's intake. Nice choice to turn the t-body side ways to make it easier to use the stock throttle linkage. I wish I would have thought of that. Manifold looks good to. I agree though, I think it would flow better if the merge area was straightened out so that there was less of an angle.
-
I took the linkage off the SQ t-body and welded it to the Ford t-body. I you don't have access to a welder you could also bolt it together with 2 8mm bolts. I guess its up to you on how much $$$ you save vs how much work it takes to make it right. Good idea Monty never the less.

I forgot to way it before I sent it out to the balancer. I'll make sure I do when it comes back.

did you sand blast the bowl?

First Good Drive...
heefner replied to CaliConquestAlex's topic in MPI/Standalone Trials and Tribulations
read your plugs if you don't have a wide band 02. That will tell you part of the fuel story (ie. too lean). Will the car struggle on or off boost or only on boost. It it won't even free rev past 5k than I would look toward timing table or something other than fuel. -
What was the final price?
-
Lidoidol, If you are interested in maximum flow from you head contact extremeboost. The last I spoke to him he knew of a process where they x-ray the head and then run a computer sim to model airflow and figure out the best possible port work. It's a little salty at $2k plus but it all in what you want. Trust me this guy knows his S...!

Hawk control of an IAC motor/valve?
heefner replied to chiplee's topic in MPI/Standalone Trials and Tribulations
I have never had any issues <knocking on wood> with cold starts or other wise that would necessitate and IAC. -
loss, compared to what the tbi? I really haven't experimented with different intakes to compare other wise. I went from stock to this and never looked back. My initial dyno graphs with the GT35r turbo netted 392 tq at 4400rpm. That was only at 28 psi. http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10088/392_tq_1552_EGT.JPG Were you volunteering a different manifold for me to compare?

rough dimensions intake plenum is 5" OD pipe, approx 15" long. I say approx because its angled in the back to clear the break booster. Runner lengths are 6" w/out velocity stacks I'm pretty sure they are not tapered either.

t body? what size do you run?
heefner replied to importwarrior's topic in MPI/Standalone Trials and Tribulations
I run a 70mm bbk on mine with out problems. I wouldn't recommend going bigger for a "daily driver". I wouldn't be afraid to put a 75mm on my car but I would consider that a "weekly" driver at best. Stop and go driving you sometimes get an unexpected surge coming off idle at low speeds/rpm. -
Sometimes old tires = hard rubber less traction it depends on the age and tire compound. Either way, I gave up trying to get someone to do mine so I'm doing it my self. I'm using an angle grinder and its a long process. Like polishing wheels by hand. You get the idea. I'm not shooting for a net savings of 5 lbs but just better aerodynamics than a rectangle. I may save a pound or 2 I'll post some pics if I think about it. Let us know how the castilo crank comes out.
-
ditto. Since I installed my wideband, I don't think there has been on time that I have driven the car and not changed something in the fuel map when later that day.
-
I still don't see the average guy getting those results with a $600 stand-alone. Maybe its just me but I feel that in most case quality comes at a price and I don't see that quality in the megasquirt. There are alot of guys using it so maybe I'm wrong.

Anybody running Tec3??
heefner replied to Lidoidol's topic in MPI/Standalone Trials and Tribulations
The new tec 3r's ar nice just a little $alty. -
you've been watching too much of the Speed channel.

Isn't it the turbine to manifold flange that's the problem?
-
Wow, that looks awesome! I have 2 questions, will the compressor fit under the hood and are there provisions for a wastegate?
-
since my intake is off I'll try to get some measurements next week when I get home.

log exhaust manifold -or- equal length manifold
heefner replied to Chad's topic in Group Purchase Info
Last I heard Ivan was still working on the final pieces of his tranny swap. It seemed that he was out of town for a while and did not have time to work on the car. Regardless unless you are asking about the car specifically I don't think the manifold would effect the car enough to turn it into a dyno queen.
