If your running a mildly modified set up you can get away with a inline RRFPR installed into the return line. Heres a good and inexpensive choice: MSD-2222 check here: www.summitracing.com Remember, you will also need a Fuel Pressure Gauge installed so you can adjust it. CALIBER 308
  2. The only part that has failed me in the 21 years of this car lifetime as far as the oil pressure reading goes is the sending unit. And it didnt take a mechanical gauge to figure it out. CALIBER 308
  3. Better yet, Lets take a poll on who has experanced this problem, and how they solved it without the expense of installing a mechanical gauge. The dash oil pressure gauge doesnt go bad, Even after 20 years. The oil pressure sending unit might. If your going to give accurate information, give it. But dont say the only way to find out if the stock dash gauge is accurate is to install a mechanical oil pressure gauge.......... CALIBER 308
  4. Well, This advice comes from a member whos experanced a low oil pressure reading on the stock gauge and fixed it with a new oil pressure sending unit. 18 years ownership of the same Starion and 35 years of experance working on all types of cars........ CALIBER 308
  5. Well, my STOCK OIL PRESSURE GAUGE has been working fine for 20 years. Where do you get your information from??? Other members, or from someone who has years of experance owning one of these cars for a long period of time??? If its the former or latter, their wrong to say you have to install a mechanical oil pressure gauge to get a proper reading. And so are you for posting such a thing to the membership!!!!! CALIBER 308
  6. Why do you think it needs replacing ? Stock oil pressure at idle is only: 11.4 psi at 167 to 194 F. oil temperature. The heavier the oil weight you use above stock recommendations (depending on you modifications) the higher the oil pressure. Does it increase at driving speed ? Where does the stock gauge sit at highway speed (60 to 70 mph). If its at half to three quarters on the stock oil pressure gauge, the oil pump is fine. See, you dont have to go threw all the B.S. and expense of installing a mechanical gauge. In the 18 years ive owned my Starion, Ive replaced the oil pressure sending unit once. If your concerned about your oil pressure reading, Id start their first. Maybe youll save a few bucks. MD092660 : Engine oil gauge (sending) unit. Appox: $40.00. www,autopartspeople.com CALIBER 308

  11. Correct me if i am wrong But wouldn't a wideband A/F gauge tell you how much you can safely boost? Dad The Wideband A/F Gauge will tell you if your running Rich, Stoich or Lean. Then, you have to know what the numbers mean  The installation instructions will have a chart to go by. Its a tool you can use to determine Air/ Fuel ratios at all rpm ranges (Idle, Midrange and Wide Open Throttle) so you can adjust your Air/Fuel mixture accordingly to boost safely. CALIBER 308
  12. Stock plugs are: NGK BPR-6ES-11 Set gap between: .039 and .043 in. If your going to run 7s, set gap between .035 and .039 in. CALIBER 308
  13. Like when he redlined it in neutral    CALIBER 308
  14. 4500 to 5000 rpms is about what you should expect from a stock engine. A word of warning: Dont rev your car to redline in neutral!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CALIBER 308
  15. When does it "cut out". 2500 rpms? If so, its most likely the Vacuum Advance. Vacuum Hose diagram can be found here: www.starquestgarage.com CALIBER 308
  16. Sounds like you did your rebuild the right way Just a word of advice. Change the oil at 100, 500 and 1000 miles. NO BOOST!!!! intil 1000 miles (set at stock boost level during break in period). On break in: Use the thinnest oil you can. I like Castrol 10w30wt. Dont run the same RPMs for extended periods of time, vary it, Especially on the interstate   Good Luck, CALIBER 308
  17. I would go here to buy one: www.apeusa.com And make sure you get the proper installation kit (400-952) Appox: $10.50. If you have any questions you can call them at: 1-877-427-3872 Ask for Ron Gregory. CALIBER 308
  18. You may be in for even more headaches If you cant tune a throttle body set up with a Maf-Translator, what makes you think a MPI set up will be easier??? All your lacking in getting your Maf-T set up to work properly is a Wideband A/F Gauge :? :? :? CALIBER 308
  19. Remove the lever cap, retaining rings and unscrew the spindle. www.starquestgarage.com 1988-89 FSM Vol no. 1 Rear Disc Brakes Section. Pages 5-54 and 5-55. CALIBER 308 Parts 11, 14 and 18? Just Section 5 Pages 54 and 55. Thats if your only looking to remove the E- brake assembly at the Caliper. I wouldnt waste my time if your looking to remove just the cables. CALIBER 308
  20. clips look like the replacement ones.., ill check the vac. advance tomarow, if its the vac advance pod, is it replacealbe?? and were could i find a replacement?? www.autopartspeople.com MD611360 Distributor Advance W/ intercooler $55.32 Remove the vacuum hose, distributor cap and two screws, thats it CALIBER 308
  21. If your using a BOV thats not fully adjustable it doesnt matter what port you use. I use the one closest to the firewall in the row of three on the throttle body. Thats M nipple or the Secondary air control vacuum port. You have to have the capability to adjust your bov for differing vacuum situations in all engines. With my set up I show 13 to 14 inches of vacuum at idle. While you might show 18. And the next member might show 16. See what im trying to get at when it comes to choosing a Blow off valve. One size does not fit all, unless its adjustable. CALIBER 308
