  1. Hmmm... Do I smell StarQuestClub.com calendars?
  2. Yes, if you go to your inbox you should see a "Preferences" link at the top of the table. Click that, and on the next page you'll see a dropdown box labeled "Notify by e-mail:" that you simply change to yes and update... voila, notification by email...
  3. Do you have an example of this I could see?
  4. Did you miss seeing that link in the menu labeled "Part # Database"
  5. That's been buggin' me too. I doubled the post size for now. So let's see just how long winded you really are
  6. I'm workin' on that Tim, but it'll take a little while because it will be possible for users to add links to the list (subject to approval) and suggest that outdated links be removed. I have other issues to resolve first, but links are on the list.
  7. Mike, that should be an easy fix. I'll look at that this morning to see if I can fix it.
  8. Do you mean like links to other sites and resources?
  9. Good timing on this mike, since I haven't completed the database creation for posting yet, but have most of the details worked out, I am now inspired to add a header field for each topic section. By doing so, each individual forum could display an appropriate and different header at the top of the index list.
  10. You can still view the post count on your profile page. As for the status lines... Well, they proved to be frustrating to some people, and some people were posting garbage "me too" type posts just to get their post counts up. We discussed long and hard about what to keep in the posts to bring what we felt was going to be best for the site and community. I know we can't please everybody, but we can certainly try to please most people...
  11. These two threads discuss doing just that. thread one thread two
  12. Or does he mean a map showing a concentration of where everyone lives on a map, so we can see the most StarQuest populated areas?
  13. If you can find out why Netscape isn't displaying properly, by all means let me know what it is that's causing the problem and I'll fix it. Is it all pages or just the forum pages?
  14. I keep seeing this word simple everywhere. So now I'm curious. Are people finding this site confusing? What would make it simple? After all, it's really nothing more than a few links in the menu with a message forum right now. We still have a boatload of work ahead adding more stuff, so let's hear what you think.
  15. I did find out that the problem was caused by the period in your name, but I haven't put in a function to convert it yet. And if you recall, I didn't delete your profile, I merely corrupted it.
  16. NO! Opera is a fine browser. And the version of Mozilla I tested on linux had no site problems. Your post begs the question though (because I'm pretty anti-micro$oft myself). Why are you using Netscape? Even as M$ loathing person you have to admit IE is far superior to Netscape.
  17. I'm working on it Just remember, there's only one of me, and plenty of jobs on my to-do list My hopes are that we'll have an interface to allow users to upload pics, and then the moderators can screen them to make sure the size isn't too huge and that they are appropriate before moving into the gallery. We sure don't want any Honda pics showing up in there 8)
  18. We're still working on the details of everything, but most likely I should think it will be broken down into categories similar to what you wrote.
  19. You can do that! Take a look a bit closer at the profiles
  20. I didn't take it that way, don't worry. I just wanted to word it so everyone else that comes along has an idea why we aren't broadcasting to the world.
  21. Let's work on getting the site speed and bloat fixed before we do a publicity blitz. I'm peeking behind the scenes at the code, but I'm only one man, and busy with plenty of other stuff like family to boot.
  22. Yes, the solution is simple. Don't use Netscape...
  23. No, whether I'm on or not shouldn't matter any more than whether you're on or not. The problems lie in the fact that almost everything in the forums comes from files that have to be opened and closed all the time, and the fact that sometimes there is a wait while someone else has a particular file locked. Every user has the info stored in a file. Each user's flag is stored in a different file. Your messages are in yet another. Your OutBox still another. Now picture this every time you open a forum thread with all 15 posts in the page. Your user file is opened to verify your login. Your messages are opened to count the number, and determine how many are read. Now for each poster in the thread, their user info is opened to add all the fluff. Then their flag file is opened to read the flag name. The users online file is opened to list online users. and of course the message file itself has to be opened. If it is a poll thread, the poll info file has to be opened to display the question, answers, and count. And let's not forget the calendar... Right here by just opening the thread to view you have opened a possible minumum of 36 files. If any of those files were locked, you had to wait. If 20 users are on the site all at the same time that's 720 files at one time that are being opened. as the number of users increase the machine won't be able to open files fast enough to keep up... This is a tiny look into what's happening with speed...
