  1. Thought I'd put this in the general discussion forum simply because the ad is so appalling! What kind of a jerk-off would write an ad like that? One that would put lime green wheels on a silver Skyline, apparently... "...This isn't your normal skyline. This xxxx is the skyline God would drive if he wasn't busy doing God crap like making tsunamis and crap. Its set up to go fast, and go fast sideways. Who doesn't like to get sideway?! Terrorists, thats who. Are you a terrorist? No? Then you need this car..." "...Whats that? You like drifting? Well I've got some great xxxx news for you. This car was a drift project of mine, and the last owner was planning on making it a drift machine too. Interior is for xxxx so we got rid of it. Manly as xxxx. It literally oozes testosterone. So much so that its puddling up in the back..." "...You like going fast? Ever tried to outrun 24 police cars and 3 helicopters? You need this car. It will go so xxxx fast that you may very well go back in time. It happened to me once. Just once, but it was xxxx rad. Its like someone took a rocket and opened its mouth and poured steroids down its throat and and threatened to kill its family if it wasn't the fastest xxxx you've ever driven..." http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/pml/cto/2619410616.html
  2. The reports of the death of the rotary engine have been greatly exaggerated…by Mazda. Just days after the automaker announced plans to end production of the only rotary engine currently on the market, a message from the company’s public relations department indicates that there may be some life left in it. A tweet thanking fans for their support of the distinctive motor over the years added that Mazda “is zealously developing new models with the next generation of rotary engine.” Further information has yet to surface, so what exactly the message means is unknown. http://www.foxnews.com/leisure/2011/10/12/mazdas-rotary-engine-not-dead-yet/
  3. That's why I drive my Quest like a gun with a hair-trigger when it's wet...I've found out through personal experience that when the tires come loose there's not much you can do but pray there's nothing in the way! Glad you weren't hurt and good luck getting the car up again.
  4. "...see thousands of parts, EVEN FOR YOUR OLD CAR!" Anybody else think the car should be a K-car, or at the very least a DSM??
  5. Like everybody has said, carfax is not worth s***. I was looking at a vehicle in Chicago over the internet. Carfax showed it as okay. My mechanic checked it over with me and we figured it had been it at LEAST two accidents!! Carfax is worth less than the paper it's printed upon!!
  6. I was down to LaCrosse last Sunday and saw a nice Quest at a bowling alley!
  7. The red one's been going down in price all year too...started at around $12k early in the spring and has been dropping ever since!
  8. Has rare factory hood scoop, i've never seen another one with this hood. The guy is kind of clueless. Sounds like he put a bit of mantenance into it though. Wonder why it's idling rough? Up in Mora too...hmm... I guess my wife is lucky I'm unemployed and broke or I'd be making a trip up to Mora...
  9. I'm pretty certain that's not a stock sunroof...at least mine doesn't have the round fastener things on the front edge. It looks like a stock automatic. Wonder how that worked, putting the torque of a V8 through that?? Oh and wouldn't it be worth pulling the antenna? Looks like a stock one which MAY work...??
  10. I've personally seen a nitrous kit for a civic hybrid so turbo, I say WHY NOT?? ^o^
  11. As someone who took a Conquest that hadn't run in 8 years, changed the fluids and then ran 1100 miles round trip to Branson, yeah, they'll suprise you with reliability. Seriously, good luck and keep your emergency tools handy. Oh and if there's a possibility of something breaking or wearing out on the way, buy it before you leave. That way you'll have it if you need it. Good trip & best wishes!!
  12. There are 3 or 4 'quests in the twin cities area that were at the all Mitsu cookout. I'd be all in for an excuse to drive some more before I put her away for the winter!!
  13. Wow, low mileage, working A/C and a sunroof! Talk about flatty love...
  14. What little I understand about turbos wouldn't you have to split the manifold for two turbos? ie: two cylinders per turbo?!?
  15. Hm, the red '89 has a nice full set of louvers and the black 89 has 'adjustable shocks' - wonder if it's an SHP??
  16. A local Nissan dealer has had a nice looking '87 Conquest with black interior and just over 59k miles on it all year. He started out asking $12,000 for it in early spring and it's been going down ever since. As of the end of September it's down to an almost reasonable $5900. Has been repainted and appears to be all stock except for the ugly steering wheel. Just thought I'd put it up here in case someone is interested... http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ram/ctd/2617365383.html
  17. That would break my cardinal rule: never buy someone else's project. It might go like hell but then again it may barely run...he just built it up and it hardly has any miles on it. Quests are so notoriously finicky that I'd be afraid to touch anything that heavily modded unless I knew the person who did it knew what they were doing. Not to be a wet blanket but this very well may take months or years of chasing down problems to get it running right.
  18. My friend in Japan picked up the most awesome double din stereo I've ever seen! It has cassette, CD and minidisc! Trippy color graphics too... Damn Japan, they have all the cool stuff over there!!
  19. Geez, that's a nice rear privacy shelf too! All the ones I've seen the underneath is cracked... Also nice tail lights if someone wanted to switch out their Conquest lights...
  20. Mounts to existing stock bolt holes but you will need to remove hood latch. ...so you need to drill holes in your hood & put hood pins on??
  21. Hidden headlights, hatchback instead of trunk...I can't help but think he was thinking of a different car and said 'avanti' Just recently I heard someone call a Pacer a Citroen...when they were corrected they admitted yeah they knew it was a pacer but...
  22. Isn't one of the ricer citation laws having a dual exhaust on a 4-cyl car??
  23. Thankfully the guy dropped the price and the car found a buyer. Good news all around!
  24. I'm actually kind of thankful I'm unemployed & virtually broke...there is/was a red '88 locally that was rusty and not running. The guy was threatening to crush it by Sep 1st. Yeah, I have a soft spot for starquests too. If I had money (and was single) my backyard would probably be full of them!
  25. You might want to check with the city about expanding the garage. I have a 3/4 acre lot -BUT- the city of Eagan only allows the square footage of your garage to be up to a certain percentage of your house. My neighbor has a HUGE 3-season porch that's only half finished so he could add on to his garage. Haunt those garage sales & craigslist for a cheap snowthrower & riding lawnmower!! Oh and one last piece of advice: if you're gonna update, remodel or change something, do it NOW. You never seem to get around to it once you move in!!
