  1. I'm curious to know about the "upgraded ECU" it has on it.
  2. jeep cherokee (XJ) hands down, I bought my 99 for $1,200 and short of fluid changes all I've had to change out in the last 100k miles is an alternator, a rad/water pump and a battery.
  3. Yes, I know, I helped build that car back in the day. http://www.streetfire.net/video/this-is-the-video-of-qusetsis-500-hp-starion_41564.htm
  4. It should be fine, they are close to their max lift, but not into coil bind. The same adjusters worked fine on Questsi's car before he sold it to Creekyjoints.
  5. I bought the actual Porsche part (901-105-370-02 $27 each from the dealer), not the cheap aftermarket ones, so these should hold up.
  6. I was in the process of swapping out the springs in those pictures.
  7. They are the beehive springs that were floating around ebay a few years back. I don't know the exact model number.
  8. The header was built by Boostwerks before JDL showed up on the scene. http://www.boostwerksengineering.com/ So since the stock head I had was toasted I figured I might as well build up another head with a bit of a cam in it. Here's what I found when I tore it down.... http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c255/sidewaysstarion/D31B1B83-B1F0-448D-87FC-48490D3CCB0A.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c255/sidewaysstarion/05C18E70-FE16-466A-B8D2-A7EC7FA49178.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c255/sidewaysstarion/14BDA60C-997E-4A73-B80E-EF559799C283.jpg the HG got really hot, but the o-rings kept it together. I installed some beehive springs to go with the new cam. http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c255/sidewaysstarion/F1C470A5-7CA1-4F10-9314-711F604BAF90.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c255/sidewaysstarion/52084E6C-1DA7-411B-AAE8-BB8CFE3CA091.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c255/sidewaysstarion/E954320E-5F1C-4E6A-9CBC-7CD8FE305B64.jpg Of course you have to have the porsche 911 adjusters to go with it. http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c255/sidewaysstarion/5AEDFB07-CFA4-4921-88A8-1102B59B4379.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c255/sidewaysstarion/E593785F-EDBB-47F6-8CFD-D6D0571ED217.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c255/sidewaysstarion/7285738B-C9C5-4100-B606-A1113B1E7670.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c255/sidewaysstarion/448D1314-9962-49CC-B8F2-E26B68962CE7.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c255/sidewaysstarion/6024C24E-87FC-418B-99E5-CD262BAF0C9E.jpg So finally last weekend I fired it up after almost 3 years of sitting. I still have some things to work out, but it runs.
  9. Well, there are ways around it. I was given a 92 ford stRanger with an $9,500 lien on it, I turned around and put my own lien on it and then did a lien sale on it. When you do that the Bank has two options, either satisfy the lien you placed on the vehicle and take it over or let it go and let you have the vehicle to satisfy the lien.
  10. Well, I guess it's time to update this thread, a lot has happened in the past 4 years. Picking up where I left off, I received my SMB header 5 days before Scotty's meet in NV, we burned the midnight oil and finally strapped it on the dyno at 1am the night before and finished tuning at 3am, we couldn't really do any impressive power pulls because the crappy stock head I had wouldn't keep the valves closed above 24 psi. 10am the next morning we set off for vegas and I could hear the exhaust leak getting worse. By the time we hit barstow (150 miles later) what was causing the leak became rather apparent by the wastegate completely falling off of the header. I went to Scotty's meet and had a great time, I also met with SMB and he agreed it should come to his house so he could attempt to fix the header. http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c255/sidewaysstarion/IMG_8843.jpg Chris attempted to fix the header and on the way back home I could hear it starting to leak again, so I parked it and started working on it. I found the #3 exhaust valve guide was starting to drop out and the header we again cracked. so I mothballed the car till I could find the time/money to fix it. A few months later a bad dealing with CJ caused me to really not care about SQs anymore and start playing in the jeep world also subsequently DC Performance shut down and I was forced to put my car in storage. The car sat for probably a year before I decided to start tinkering with it again. I pulled the cracked exhaust off and contacted a vendor on the jeep forums who makes turbo headers to build me one. http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c255/sidewaysstarion/IMG_9042.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c255/sidewaysstarion/IMG_9041.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c255/sidewaysstarion/IMG_9040.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c255/sidewaysstarion/IMG_9039.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c255/sidewaysstarion/IMG_9038.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c255/sidewaysstarion/IMG_9044.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c255/sidewaysstarion/029.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c255/sidewaysstarion/030.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c255/sidewaysstarion/031.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c255/sidewaysstarion/034.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c255/sidewaysstarion/035.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c255/sidewaysstarion/LosAngeles-20110918-00035.jpg More to come...
  11. I second the jeep 4.0, I've put some seriously hard miles on mine and it still runs like a swiss watch.
  12. I've been running a 30-6050 since late 09 when they launched it (I have SN #65). I don't see how your mongolian BBQ reference makes any sense it's more like you go to the mongolian BBQ and you give a bowl with all of the ingredients and you cook it yourself, and if you burn it or mess something up, it's all your fault. I've worked with FIP's trainwreck of an MS1, I've worked with Scotty's MS2/3 hybrid and those are like the diet coke of the standalone world, sure they'll get the job done, but they'll always leave a bad taste in your mouth afterwords.
  13. Dos box does work really well with the old haltech tuning software, You can find old IBM t30's on ebay pretty cheap and if it's running windows 98 or older it should work ok for the task. the main issue is going to find a tuner that knows how to work with those older haltechs. they are very strange in the fuel/timing maps are bar graphs and not like a modern ecu. I'm a fan of AEM ecus though they have their quirks, if you are budget minded the EMS-4 works really well (UCW458), If not then I'd say go with a big box series 2 (30-6050) or one of the new infinity ecus. I'm running the 30-6050 on my car and it works extremely well, within the next few weeks I'll be setting up flex fueling and probably updating my build thread from 5 years ago. The main issue I find with the megasquirt ecus is the poorly written software and the jacked up way of setting up the inputs and outputs especially the cam/crank triggers. The logging is very lacking and if you can get through all of the issues with the setup and get it working and tuned they don't have a very good track record for reliability.
  14. Are these still available?
  15. http://www.dailybreeze.com/general-news/20120327/los-angeles-ends-its-use-of-red-light-cameras IIRC the fines are now "voluntary" and are unenforcable.
  16. What I think he's talking about is how much timing he can get out of it before the rotor gets too far out of phase.
  17. I take it you failed at reading my previous posts, I've been running a 24/1 (12/1 in relation to the crank) since 2010. http://www.aemelectronics.com/images/30-8760_Product_Main.jpg
  18. That car is damn clean and it's sub 100k, I saw it in person.
