  1. Yours was leaking, right? Did you send it back to him?
  2. He has head studs as well, sounds like a good price!
  3. He did this: http://www.starquestclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=109528
  4. It depends on the chipset. ATI cards play very nicely with AMD chipsets; they call it the dragon platform: http://game.amd.com/us-en/landings/dragon.aspx ATI's newer drivers are a huge improvement over the older versions (anything pre Cata 8 was pretty much crap); and unlike nVidia you can choose to install their utility software or go driver only, which I personally think is a huge plus. That is not to say that nVidia doesn't make a good card, but I definitely wouldn't go with a 4 year old design in a new machine if I am building something that I want to be top of the line. I personally run a SSD every day and have built several machines that use them. I believe it is the single most noticeable upgrade you can put in your machine. Running a second drive for larger media files is a very good idea if you can understand having multiple drives. It is pretty rare to see a non-gamer that needs anything over 100-200 GB of storage, but they are definitely out there, so that is a consideration when deciding which type of HDD to run.
  5. Tim's system is pretty baller. A bit more power than I would recommend (or use personally; so I may be skewed a bit) but I like the AMD platform a lot. However, I really recommend going all out and getting an ATI video card when you are rolling with an AMD system (ok, I recommend them with every system, but especially with AMD systems). The 5770 rocks for ~$150. The 9800GT was a solid card, but it is ancient.
  6. I'd recommend the i5 750. You can jump to an i7, but it really won't be worth your $$. If you really want to, the i7 930 is a powerhouse, but you are adding a 100 bucks for performance that you really will never see in any practical usage. If you want my honest recommendation, get a quad core phenomII with a 5770 and a nice SSD. You will never wait for any program to load and it will run any consumer-grade application with no problem. If you want to go overboard/ not with AMD go with a i5-750 with a 5770 and a nice SSD. It's really not overboard; just a bit more $$ that isn't wasted money. It will be a faster rig with some shiny bits (like usb 3.0 support) that make the system justifiably more expensive. If you want bragging rights build the i7. I have significantly more money then when I first started building my computers and I spend a lot less on my builds. My advice is going to be: pick your platform (based on whatever, mostly usage requirements) and get the best value processor, get a good brand mobo and memory, and spend around 150-200 on the video card. I recently gave a buddy my $400 video card that I bought a couple of years ago because it is worth nothing now. You will be better off spending the same amount of money and upgrading a few times over the life of the computer. I can spec something out for you tomorrow at work (probably; may get busy) if you are a bit more specific on what platform you want to roll with
  7. Cool project, but what's up with the '83? Looks way too nice to be a parts car...
  8. Are you going to put some king of bead on the metal pipes? I've seen radiator hoses like that blow themselves off. Riding in my buddies V8 Corvair on the interstate; there was a boosh sound and the whole car filled with this sweet tasting vapor, it was really funny
  9. Yup. I put my water temp sensor under the waterneck; plenty of material to drill and tap for it. I did have to remove some material from the AC bracket for clearence. The plate where the OEM TB used to be is great for vacuum nipples. I used the bigger nipple on the #4 runner for the brake booster. The SDS destructions said to not put the air temp sensor in the intake due to heat soak, so I put mine in the IC plumbing just before the TB. The adapter plate will work, but you have to be creative with the fuel pump blockoff plate as the intake will not fit over it; I used silicon and glued a gasket to the manifold. So, depending on where your budget is you can use that thing as-is with a few holes drilled and tapped for the stuff you need. I didn't like the way the adapter plate went on so I put a magna head on my car after 1 season (~2000 miles), and everything looked good when I took it apart.
  10. Started watching this one: Love that show...
  11. Yarr. It made for funny TV, but definitely not a good idea. You would have a similar reaction walking through Europe with a sign that says "football is for wankers" or whatever. May actually end up significantly worse depending on where you are.
  12. Yeah, I thought about it, but I need to fix the quest first.
  13. Banning him would hurt the people that still haven't gotten their stuff. Reading this thread, there are quite a few members still waiting.
  14. I'm all old and washed up to ride anything with any more power The straight-Line grunt of the Eliminator is still pretty impressive, running her to the redline is quite thrilling.
  15. http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c69/tarnug/Cars/th_DSCF0604.jpg '93 Bravada. Doesn't look like too much, but it has served me well.
  16. That Victory is pretty BA. The styling is almost too extreme, but I am a sucker for big fenders. Post pics of your Enduro when your wheel is done, I'd like to see it
  17. So, I spent a few hours this afternoon making it less disgusting. Unfortunately I failed at most of the pics, but here's what I got: http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c69/tarnug/Cars/Eliminator/th_DSCF1126.jpg It's just so pretty http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c69/tarnug/Cars/Eliminator/th_DSCF1134.jpg Mostly crummy pic, but she got new shoes last year: http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c69/tarnug/Cars/Eliminator/th_DSCF1130.jpg Haven't done too much this year; last year I put eBay special mirrors and rear turn signals. I had an oil leak that I fixed (water pump seal) and a new speedo cable. This pic also mostly sucks, but you can kind of see the tank decal: http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c69/tarnug/Cars/Eliminator/th_DSCF1131.jpg It's a factory sticker, but I don't really like it. I have a ding in the tank to get fixed and am torn on removing it, what do you guys think? Oh, here's a better pick from a couple years ago: http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c69/tarnug/Cars/th_DSCF0262.jpg
  18. If you can keep it under $500 shipped that would be awesome and I think you would sell them. Over $500 and you probably won't sell many. Not that they aren't worth that price, it's just what you can expect people to pay. I think as you get into that higher price range not only do your potential sales go down, but those that are left that would spend that kind of money tend to go with a local fabricator where they can track the progress of the purchase and talk face-to-face with the dude building it.
  19. You can DL the game from battle.net if you register the CD Key with your account
  20. I kept mine, but I haven't charged it yet. I had to modify my AC Compressor bracket a bit, but it wasn't that hard at all.
