  1. Thanks everyone. looks like cxracing is the way to go. Now if I can just figure out which kit to start with so many options. Everyone feel free to post any pictures of your intercooler piping work here. Thanks again for all of the support. Phillip_411
  2. Thanks for taking the time to simplify some of the otherwise diffucult aspects of goimg MPI. This is very beneficial. I look forward to seeing more posts like this. Thanks, Phillip_411
  3. OK guys, Which do you think is better / cheaper when it comes to Intercooler Piping on our MPI Builds. I am going with an aftermarked intercooler (sont sure of exact dmensions but it is the same as most people use on here). I have been weighing my options and have not made a decision yet as to taking it to a shop and having the tubing bent or just getting a kit. One thing to keep in mind is that I dont want to have to relocate the battery. Please post links to kits you have used and your likes dislikes. Thanks, Phillip_411
  4. I ordered the 3sx lines. Then I got to thinking. Will I still be able to use these when I convert to D2 Coilovers? (It will probably be about a year until I have the money for this conversion) So is anyone using the 3sx brake lines with the D2's? Thanks, Phillip_411
  5. Thanks for the info guys. I will check out the 3xs products. (at first glance these are still two hoses for each brake. Maybe they offer a one piece hose but I havent seen it yet) I purchased the ABS Delete kit from jolyrgr (over a year ogo). It is a nice piece. I wish I could get a one piece brake line like he sold. Thanks Everyone, Phillip_411
  6. I would like a set of these if there is a extra. Anyone feel free to PM me if you have a set you wont use. Thanks, Phillip_411 Phillip_411@hotmail.com
  7. I am replacing the following brake parts on my TSI that has not been moved in 10 years. I have removed all of the calipers adn rotors. I have seen SS Brake Lines in the past. I would like a set of these. Also does anyone know of any better performing brake parts? I have removed the ABS unit and installed a SS bypass kit. Thanks, Phillip_411 Phillip_411@hotmail.com
  8. I may be interested. I am in Tuscaloosa and have an 83 hood. I will show this post to my body man tonight and see what he thinks about repairing the cracks. I am curious though, who makes these hoods and how much do they cost new?
  9. Thanks again 19cturbo. This takes so much of the guesswork out of tracking everything down. BTW I found the starter solenoid wire after reading your post.
  10. Thanks to all of you once again. I have put a lot of time and money into planning out my mpi swap. I reallty wish people with negative opions or remarks would just keep them to themselves. No need to critisize someone for making a mistake. I have followed the guide on this forum for my wiring (Which has been great) and it didnt mention ther starter wire. http://www.starquestclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=113850. I'm sure this isint the last problem that I will have.
  11. From the time I started my mpi build I have removed the factory engine management wiring harness. Since then I realized that the wire that plugs onto the flat tab of the starter is gone. Could anyone else that has had this problem post on how you fixed it? I thnk you just need to pick up a 12v signal that comes on when you are in cranking position. If thats the case where did you pickup from? Thanks, Phillip_411
  12. Hello, Here are the parts that I ordered from jegs.com. Basically the same list that 19cturbo posted, but from Jegs. I ordered a 6' length of fuel cable just to be sure I had enough though. QTY Jegs Part Number Description 1 555-100302 -6AN Flare Plug 2 555-100021 90° Max Flow Swivel Hose End 1 555-100911 Pro-Flo 200 Series Braided Hose 6' 1 555-100202 Flare Union 1 027-15635 -6AN Male to 5/16" Barb 2 555-100001 Straight Max Flow Hose End 1 361-9919DFG -6AN to 12mm x 1.5 Adapter 1 555-41032 Fuel Pressure Gauge (Carbon Fiber) 1 027-13109 A1000 -6 Injected Bypass Regulator 1 023-FCM3464 Aeroquip Fittings #6 O-RING EPR The Total was around $275:00
  13. Thanks everyone for all of the help here. I am using a magna intake. I dont have a local speed shop and I will have to order all of this stuff online. The pictures are a great help. Out of the list of parts on here can anyone tell me what adapter to use with the factory fuel filter? Also (off topic) BOHO where did you get that alternator bracket? I need one. Thanks, Phillip_411
  14. I will see about ordering the aeromotive 13109 then. I will also need to order fittings, adapters, hoses... Basically whatever it takes to plumb everything into the stock fuel lines under the hood. Where did you guys get everything from? Also do you guys have guages hooked to your FPR? If so what works well?
  15. Hello everyone, My MPI build is getting closer to completion. I have already ordered a trilogy fuel rail but I still need to order a Fuel Pressure Regulator. What FPR are you guys running and what do you recomend? What hoses and fittings do you use? One thing that I have seen that I liked is the ability to hook a guage up for pressure readout. Thanks ahead of time, Phillip_411
  16. Where is the B38 plug located? I have found the main harness and relay but I have tore the car apart hunting this b38 plug. I am getting ready to wire in the megasquirt 2 v3.0 system. Thanks for all of the help.
  17. Thanks for all of the comments everyone. It looks like 3" is the way I will go. This will not be a daily driver. This is purely a project car. Thanks, Phillip_411
  18. Hello Everyone, While I have a few days off I have been working on my TSI. The longblock, clutch and transmission are mated together and ready to be dropped back into the car. While doing some research I ran across the article below on www.racetep.com. Could you guys with similar setups comment on your exhaust systems? I dont want to loose the fun factor of street racing cars around town by installing a 3" exhaust. My partslist include Magna Intake Comp Turbo CT3-5558 Triple Ball Bearing .63AR Treadstone Exhaust Manifold 38MM Tial Wastegate 4 72lb injectors from racetronix Megasquirt 2 V3.0 ECU Innovative Widebacd LC1 EDIS SR22 Aluminum Radiator 29x11x3 Aluminum Intercooler Wiesco Forged Pistons Marnal Race head with oversized SS Valves and HD Springs Schneidar 284 Cam Stage 4 Competition Clutch with Flywheel You do not need a 3" exhaust on a street Starion. You almost don’t need it on a Race Starion. I know, everyone says it will make more power in a turbo car with bigger pipe. Sure, we’ll agree with that but you do not drive the car on boost at 18 psi all the time. Most cars don’t even flow enough to take advantage of a 3" pipe at 20 psi and 7500 rpm. What happens when you put too large a diameter pipe on your car is that the off boost performance suffers terribly. A turbo car has to make boost before it make power. You also have to drive your car normally most of the time. This concept does not apply to a dedicated track car that just stays on boost all the time so don’t call and yell at me about it.Too large a diameter pipe does not have any exhaust velocity or extractor effect until very high rpm. Removing all the backpressure from a system will allow the turbo to breathe more efficiently once it is on boost, but it will generally delay the turbo from coming on boost. The Catch-22 here is that the engine off boost needs a certain amount of backpressure to develop the exhaust flow that will allow the Turbo to spool-up. You need to compromise with an exhaust size that will allow the car to run correctly over its entire RPM range. In the case of a street and strip Starion that size is 2.5" with or without a Cat. If you have a huge Turbo and just want to make monster boost and HP and don’t give a crap about driveability or performance below 4000 rpm, hey, go for it. 3" pipe is the answer. In an unlimited situation where max power and flow is the consideration and driveability is no issue than a bigger free flow system is the answer. I just guarantee you that 99% of the cars out there do not fit that category. You can find plenty of Starion owners that put a 3" system on their car and will admit that it went slower in the ¼ mile and was much more sluggish around town.
  19. thagremlin, Did you get get the pipes from a kit or have them custom made? If you bought them from a kit could you provide me a link? Thanks, Phillip_411
  20. Hello, I have seen some oil pans that have been welded to receive the turbo oil return line. Is this better than using the stock location? Is there a problem with using the stock location? I will be using an aftermarket T3/T4 with a treadstone exhaust manifild.
  21. Awesome information everyone. Please keem em coming. It is great to see the different mounting techniques.
  22. Hi guys, I am in the process of converting to MPI and already have most of the parts needed. However I do not have a larger intercooler yet. I have seen pictures of some intercoolers that fill the visible area of the opening above the spoiler (I really like that). Please show your pics and / or provide links to aftermarket intercoolers that work well with our cars. Mine is an 88 conquest. I am not concerned with piping as a local muffler shop will bend what I need. Thanks, Phillip_411
  23. Man that sounds good. I have really enjoyed watching this build.
  24. Thank you all for the input and help. I have been looking on ebay for the last couple days for the S13 radiators. Here is a link to what I am considering purchasing. Please let me know what you guys think. s13 radiator with fans Thank You, Phillip_411
