  1. Using synthetics means a better lubrication but what they gain in viscostiy they lose in the detergent action and arent "soaked up" by older style gaskets. The gaskets and seals werent made for it so they "dry" out leading to leaks and drips where there werent any using conventionals. Synthetics also arent going to make your engine cleaner, but at least they wont make it dirtier either, unles you count the leaks developing. And Ken makes a good point in the service dept. I used to take my 92 Taurus SHO to Ford every 2.5k until one day the service advisor got upset because I didnt wait until over 3k between oil changes, He even brought me over to the car to view the dipstick and told me I wasnt letting the oil do its job because it still looked so clean. I told him to bring the car off the rack and I never went back. Have always done my own since then. My dad used to change oils in all our vehicles religously in our cars at 2.5k and always checked them out if something seemed wrong or wasnt running properly- 85 G20 van w 350 went 350k miles w/o issue, 84 Thunderbird w 5.0 went almost 400k before we junked it due to rotted out frame, my 90 Isuzu Impulse XS went over 250k before I sold it to my cousins b/f, drove it out to Cali and kept it another 3 years before he let it go. If you couldnt tell, my family tends to keep cars a long time so we are a bit fanatical about EXCELLENT maintenance on our cars.
  2. So, I had a idle/dirveability issue. At cold idle, first time starting it in the morning, it wouldnt jump to 1200 rpm, just to about 700 or so, and act like it was going to die from too much fuel, unless I held the throttle part open just to clear it out then it would idle fine at 900. As the car warmed up, it would idle at 12-1400 RPM and smell like it was running rich, then under part throttle after 3500 rpm it would start to stutter and not feel like it had any power, just an over-rich condition. So I replaced the CTS, cleaned the connections. No change in any symptoms. Today, Im sitting in traffic and watch the needle creep just past the halfway mark. Nothing serious or a major swing in the needle, about 1/16, but enough to remind myself of some stories Ive been reading here on the site of warped heads and the like. So I turned the heater on full blast. Needle pointed under normal, so I felt better and drove like that the rest of the way home. When, traffic opened up I got frisky with the gas and punched it a bit, and wouldnt you know? Smooth power all they way to 5500. I turned off the heater to make sure it wasnt my imagination and it acted as before. Turned it back on full heat and it went away. The idle was still high at 1200 but the stuttering and hesitation was gone. Is there something else I should swap out? Anyone have a clue?
  3. Thats why I need one of you knowledgable people to help me, duh
  4. Hell yeah, Im always down for a meet and a roadtrip even. LMK, My work schedule is wacky but I work 1st shift so I can always drive up afterwards. Maybe one of you intelligent, knowledgable peoples can help me get my BOV working?
  5. What is that nipple off the side of the OVCP pipe for? Where does that hook up to?
  6. That dude just kicked a whole lotta a$$. I feel sorry for whoever pissed him off! On a side note, watching him walk up the first couple of stairs kinda reminded me of Guy from the Final Fight arcade game, just a bit robotic in a way.
  7. So they made him a widebody before there were widebodies? Lucky bastage
  8. I have a nice running 93 Ex500 for sale. I bought it 4 years ago and have ridden it every year except this one. Luminous Polaris Blue over white. Awesome gas milage and enough power to get you in trouble. Has only 7k miles on it. The only problem it has is its missing its original front fairing and its missing a mirror. While it was stored the first winter I had it, someone stole the upper fairing and turns. A member from the ex500 club sold me a beatup one that I just threw on there and rattle canned a darker shade of blue. Would need a left mirror and some repair if you wanted on the fairing or replace it with a new one. Tune up and oil change along with new plugs and coils done before last winter. Will come with some new turns I bought off ebay but never installed, Clymers repair manual, owners manual, and Lockhart leather tank bra. Looking for $1300. Fly into MDW or ORD and ride out, I have never had a problem with this bike and would trust it to go anywhere, but wife and I are looking to buy our first house and this must go. Pic is of bike exactly like mine but with the fairing a darker shade of blue.
  9. $90 to ship? Are they being hand delivered?
  10. Sweet freaking driving! Knocking the balloon out of the dummys hand was great!
  11. Jeez, that made me cringe just watching it, i cant even begin to imagine what that ride must have felt like. Awesome!
  12. x3 I loved his music, but I like alot of artists/groups music and dont feel the need to sit on the end of my seat or glued to the tv/internet reading/watching coverage of a person that grew fascinating to the tabloids and celebrity press but largely irrelevant to the rest of the world. Sorry but Id much rather have seen a tribute to the pullout in Iraq to those soldiers that made the ultimate sacrifice than this train wreck of a persons life. We'll miss you MJ hopefully because of your musical contributions, but more likely because our late night hosts won't have any new material based on you.
  13. Just got my OVCP delivered from 101Propose (thanks 101, its a beaut! ) Anywho, it comes with a rubbber line off the end of the bov and a nipple on the opposite side of the OVCP. Can anyone tell me how to hook it up correctly? I tried to use the search but got nothing for bov. Any pics of an install would help too. Thanks! Eddie
  14. Let me know if you have anymore #9 sets please, Thanks! I can paypal asap
  15. for #9, are the front the complete assembly or just the inserts? thanks!
  16. I dont, just because theyre allowed to get away with it. If the demand is great enough theyll markup whatever models they see as having the greatest profit. Think of recent high-interest models that were selling way over the msrp. VW New Beetle, Chrysler PT Cruiser, and their 300C/Charger twins, the Toyota Prius STILL has a waiting list and people are happy to pay a premium over sticker for them in some markets, even the Plymouth Prowler when it came out I remember seeing the sticker at $74k, over 2x what the msrp was.Noone seems to complain about price gouging there, like the fuel industry. And remember thats all msrp is- manufacturers SUGGESTED retail price. Its a market driven business thats especially sensitive to supply and demand
  17. Nah wasnt me, I do all my ripping off close to home j/k :eek1bluegreen: Ive been posting as shogun121 since 1996 when I had a 92 Taurus SHO supercharged and was trying to swap in a SHO 3.0 into a Festiva ala Shogun like Jay Lenos. Project never came to fruition and I eventually sold the SHO but kept the name. Jeez 1996 seems like a lifetime ago lol Thanks! And I thought these cars were rare, apparently I got one of the rarest R04 Conquests ... a running, driving one lol
  18. Thanks for the welcome and my car thanks you for the compliment! Ive been a Chicago guy all my life. Is there a someone trying to steal my identity in VA? Cause then I can send the bill collectors that way lol :hmm3grin2orange:
  19. when replacing the CTS, is there some sealant or tape or something that should go on the threads? Or is it simply remove and replace? Thanks!
  20. 101, Do you still have #6 available? If so please let me know, thanks. BTW do you have a sound clip of it avail too? Thanks!
  21. Nice Impulse, I had two of them, a JR and JI both non turbos. Very fun, underrated cars. Good luck with the sale and your surgery.
  22. When I first start the car for the day, it idles fine, like you said up to around 1500 then drops to under 1000, but after it warms up it idles at 12-1300 and wont go lower than that. Do you know what part number that coolant temp sensor is? Is it a dealer only part? I tried Autozone and they dont offer it for the car or am I not searching correctly?
