  1. Update! http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/30366383/
  2. My wife bought a new Pacifica from Chrysler a few years ago. She has the Premium Service Plan so that if her car needs to be left overnight at the stealership they will give her a rental car at no charge. Well about 6 weeks ago she did. Yesterday she looked at her credit card statement and it showed charges for car rental from the rental company. She called the car rental place that the stealership got the car from and they stated "Yes we show that you are in the Premium Service Plan. But Chrysler has filed bankruptcy and we need our money, so we charge you!! So just letting everyone know if you have this plan tell the stealership to lend you a car from their lot. DO NOT rent one from the rental place.
  3. With that kind of horsepower from a four cylinder, the bearings won't last a season. That gos for all the manafactures bearings. Usually the upper half flats out. I'd like to see pics. of the bearings if you pull the engine down. Or email me for more info.
  4. Both are good products. From the Clevite factory MS1945AL = Back Order MS1945AL25MM = 147 in stock MS1945AL50MM = 6 in stock, more due in late May. MS1945AL75MM = 29 in stock. You might want to find another parts store.
  5. Unless times have changed over the last 20 years. (OMG I feel old now). We would bore to within about .002, then hone. I didn't think you could hone much more than that and still have a perfect round bore?
  6. It looks like the impression left from the fire ring on the head gasket. Being a cast iron block it shouldn't have put a grove in the block. You may have gasket material still on the block that's giving a raised feel. On alloy blocks and heads it WILL leave an impression from the fire ring. But also a thicker fire ring will help hold more compression. Here's a picture of a gasket set. You can see the fire ring here. http://www.starquestclub.com/forum/index.p...age&img=182
  7. It also depends on what material of piston rings that you will be installing. Some ring types require a more course grit to use.
  8. Every year I look forward to coming here. It's the only highlight I have on this day.
  9. Hey Tim. Which Poormans do you go to? I know most of them guys! But they don't know I own a Quest.
  10. I work in Automotive Service Engineering Dept. for a major international engine parts manafacturing company. If you keep up with the Nascar engine builder club you know us.
  11. Would you have a part number? I can't find a MAHLE number. The OEM div. doesn't carry them anymore. And the Motorsports div. stated that they never made them.
  12. You should only need a "Head Gasket Set". Ask Dad on this site.
  13. OMG! The same thing happened to me. I called them. They said "I'm holding it in my hand and looking at it. It has FIVE bolts." I drive 15 - 20 miles there. It had four bolts. As I started to tell the guy off he runs into the back room. Just one of MANY reasons I never go to AZ. Well I do buy batterys from them. At least with NAPA and Carquest they have a "hot line" to call for help on looking up parts if needed. AZ and the likes don't.
  14. Yep! The moisture separator/filter needs to be at least 25 feet away from the compressor before it works properly. I've got three moisture separator/filter systems. The third one is about 60+ feet away and is a five stage filter for painting/coating.
  15. I talked to MAHLE Motorsports about a year ago. They would make a set of forged pistons for us, with rings, and coated skirts. At about any CR we wanted. Only about $500-600 per set! But will be the strongest pistons avail. for our engines.
  16. Which oil filter are you going with. Does anyone have access to the old site? I talked to tech support at Wix filters and found a quality oil filter that should work, but a bit longer in lenght for more filter area. And more oil cap. I posted the part number and tech info. It had to been 2+ years ago. I've lost the info since.
  17. Yep, a clogged cat, or exhaust leak would do it. Along with lack of coolant, or lube.
  18. :iagree: Use Amsoil, Wix, or Mobil 1. It had to have been put on too tight. You might need to use a chisel and tap at the oil filter flange.
  19. I've seen a StarQuest engine bay that had an aftermarket fusible link box. Looked much nicer with the huge late model type fuses. Anyone have a link to who makes these? My box must have had a small fire from a past owner. Needs upgrading. :thread20jacked8wq:
  20. Fuel washing out the rings will also scare the piston skirts due to lack of lube.
  21. I still remember the first time I worked on one. Took awhile to find the battery! But driving one made me love it. Much smoother than a vette.
  22. SCAM!!! I've got the same message from several scamers. Sometime with the same message, but differant names. I've had a check, or money order come back several weeks later as bad. Takes longer than 10 days.
  23. I would like to find any old Sunbeam bicycle needing resto to go with my motorcycle.
  24. Yep. When using Hyper type pistons it's recommended to add 20% end gap to the second ring over the top ring.
