My mind never rests, I been getting help from the shrink but he asked me 'not to come back' because he needed some sort of long vacation

Anyways, I wanted to build a test bed for turbo readings and fuel injection work, and I wanted to do some work with airodynamic's so I decided on a RWD CRX, I wanted to call 'Pocket Rocket' , its a lot like the old ' turbiniques' in the late 60's. Now that will stir some oldtimers memory, but what they were was basically a go cart with a jet motor strapped to them and they are illegal at most strips

I knew I wanted it small and wicked but no heavy V-8's It was down to a 4G63 or a 300zx, I figured it wasnt special if its just a 4 cylinder located in the rear, so I went with the 300zx

I had to build a frame that would accomodate the 3.0 VG engine, so I clipped the front of a Maxima and put the front structure in the back of the CRX and re used the auto trans drive line out of it.

I used a frame stiffener made for Chevy Camaro's for the front beam in my set up

I took out the steering rack from the Nissan set up and put a straight cylinder in it

everything was welded before engine installation

then I installed the engine and driveline

I had wanted to do something completely different for the street and I got my answer from the WRX series in europe, they had roof scoops for interrior cooling and I thought it was pretty neat, you can see the dump tubes here in the back that push the air down to the intercooler and the oil cooler mounted in the rear section of the car behind the engine

I built the air scoop in two stages, the inner structure is a lot more restrictive then the finished look is

I used a cowl induction scoop for a Chevy and turned it backwards to finish out the look I wanted

I needed to build an air inlet with an airfilter for the turbo

the I built my own gastank because I will be using the air from the radiator and off the top of the gas tank deflected through the hood as a front air scoop to give me some down force at speed

You're crazy Bill! That's some original thinking right there. Wasn't the 300zx longitudinal rwd? What trans does it use?

Scott

Give me a call Scott, drop bye and see my shop, maybe I can help you out on your project, I am over near Upton and Sylvania

I used the Nissan maxima driveline, the 300zx shares the same engine as the Maxima
