Dcrasta
Some pics.. PUtting in my electric fuel gauge.. Here is the pic of the TB / injector housing http://home.mindspring.com/~dcrasta/housing1.jpg The sending unit http://home.mindspring.com/~dcrasta/housing3.jpg This vdo unit required a 1/8th npt threads. According to my machinist (who is a pro btw) he says this unit had metric threads. He installed an adapter (im not sure if he tapped new threads or what but it looks good) http://home.mindspring.com/~dcrasta/housing2.jpg This screwed right in and i used some permatex #2 gasket sealant.. http://home.mindspring.com/~dcrasta/housing4.jpg. A little on the threads and assemble. I just finished letting it set so now im gonna go install it on the car. http://home.mindspring.com/~dcrasta/housing5.jpg http://home.mindspring.com/~dcrasta/housing8.jpg
GoFastBeater
That's how I have my sending unit installed on my car, but Art warned me about those brass fittings cracking and breaking. Its been on there for a couple years and no leaks yet :-/ :-/ ADAM

Dcrasta
I have finished this but I will take more pics to finish the thread (Camera battery died..)
Dcrasta
Finally finished. . Here is the Sending unit mounted on the car http://home.mindspring.com/~dcrasta/sender.jpg Looks right at home... Sorry the flash washed out the gauge when I took the picture. Im taking care of all teh wires and probably will put a heat gun on the pods to get it to fit a little better, although it fits pretty well now just need to hide the wiring a little better.. http://home.mindspring.com/~dcrasta/gauge.jpg BTW I also swapped out a hacked 1gen MAS for a stock 1gen mas (unmodified) because when I pulled my plugs adjust my cam (one tooth early) I saw this http://home.mindspring.com/~dcrasta/leanplug.jpg I suspect I have a dying fuel pump also because after its been running the fuel pressure at idle seems to be low (32ish instead of 36.) I know with my rx7's 2 psi would hurt the idle and cause high rpm fade.. Main reason I got the gauge. Hope this helps someone Take care.
Truth
hey Hugh, just curious, on your FPR you have the vacuum line going to the port under the OVCP and the lower port where it usually is blocked off. does that do anything?
Dcrasta
Am I in the wrong port? I hope not.. I figured they were both the same I will switch it to make sure its not a restricted port .. thanks
starquestPilot
So, where'd you get the fuel pressure gauge/sender - and how much did it cost? Just wondering, Mike
Dcrasta
Got it direct from www.dakotadigital.com http://www.dakotadigital.com/Detail.cfm/-/...0-2/product.htm Sweet gauge. Everything was about 160.00 (gauge and sending unit) I know its alittle on the expensive side but its been worth it so far..
artinist
the correct source for the fuel pressure regulator is after the throttle body. plug the outlet where the factory is using as vaccum source.
Dcrasta
after the TB meaning on the turbo side of the TB right? thats where it is.. i have it where it is in the pic and its rockin..
860QuestTuner
Damn Right those brass fittins suck.I just had my metric to standard 1/8npt fitting for the sender to my autometer oil press gauge break in half while I was driving my quest on christmas eve.Oil all over the place, the other half of the fitting is stuck in my oiler.Yes it really sucks. Dcrasta
Man stop trying to put bad luck voodoo on me. Hopefully since the fuel rail is a lower temp environment hopefully it wont break in half
860QuestTuner
I think the engine vibration and the weight of the sender played a big role in it breaking. You should make a small bracket from the base plate to the sender to support it.It just may save you a fire, think about, does it make sence? Good luck tho, I don't wish bleeding motor to anyone.
