fuel pressure guage (TBI mount)

Recommended Posts

Today I finally completed something I started last fall...  A TBI mounted fuel pressure guage.  I was having problems getting the metric adaptor to seal good enough to the stock threads.  I ended up taking it to a machine shop and they retapped the threads to 1/4" NPT.   It only took the guy 2 mins and was pretty easy.  You could probably do this with your own taps if you have them.

The guage is ~$20 from summit

You'll also need a 1/4" NPT to 1/8" NPT bushing and a 1/8" 90 degree elbow ~$3

Very cheap useful upgrade.

Heefner... You can get that in liquid form? Resin is crazy sticky ;) LOL

Absolutely, you just gotta know who to ask and what to ask for.  What ever you do, don't ask for liquid crack.  You'll get a can of RED BALLS!  ;D

The guy who did my re-tapping said to use some liquid teflon also, to prevent little bits from braking off and clogging something.  But the smallest container they sold could have plumbed the titanic and was ~$35.... so I passed

If I find a smaller amount I'll pick it up.

I did the same thing to mine a couple of months ago trying to track down a fuel system problem.  I used #2 Permatex on the threads.  I didn't have my TB retapped.  I used a 1/4" pipe with an elbow and an 1/8" reducer.  I just screwed it all together and it works fine.  The pipe adapter is a bit tight but doesn't leak at all and looks nice on the car.  Later I want to get a remote for the inside of the car. But that will be later this summer.

I had the same setup as you and watch out cause it will hit your strut bar if you have one. I had to go another route with a hose setup. I can get more of these made for you guys. Ill post pics when I get a chance.

Try a scuba supply store or mariner's supply store.  It has great anti-corrosive properties for salt water applications.  It also comes in a spray that dries.  (It was brought up in my SCUBA class last night). Still, I would think industrial and plumbing supply stores would have it too.

Here's a couple of links I just found on the internet:

What kind of strut bar do you have. I've already done this mod too and am thinking of getting a strut bar soon. I think I'm going to get the S&M set that ESIrType? sells.
