jolyrgr
I have been contacted a few times lately regarding the Aluminum Radiators that Star-Orion has had produced in the past. My current arrangement with the radiator shop requires at least 5 of these to be produced at a time to both cut costs, and keep the labor demands of the shop down. I currently have a couple of interested parties at the 2.6 liter site, and I am looking for interest here to get this run produced. The last run came to $360 + shipping. anyway...on to the important part NEW INFORMATION. GP DETAILS We are happy to open another group buy on the Star-Orion aluminum radiator. For those that are not familiar with the product, let me give you a run down. This is a stock race radiator for a V8, that has been adapted to bolt into the stock radiator location for the Starion/Conquest. It is a two rows of 1" tube, in an arguably more efficient cross-flow design. the actual core is 18"(H)X21"(W)X2.25"(D), with 18.5"X2.25X2.75" end tanks. NO EPOXY USED on these radiators. Because these are modified for our use, any customization is still possible. Just send in your needs and we will make the required design changes. All modifications are professionally TIG welded by a shop with years of both practical and show car experience, and pressure tested before shipping. Some of the modifications include: Custom brackets for bolt in installation Re-angled water neck to allow for hood clearance while not promoting cavitation issues Re-sized and angled inlet/outlet necks to accept stock size radiator hose. Over-sized temperature bung to allow for use of your choice of thermosensor Sensor bung located in the 1/2 way mark of tank to allow for use as low water sensor location (mount fan switch in head for this set-up) Fan mounting brackets can be fabricated on an as need basis http://usera.ImageCave.com/starorion/IMG_0783.JPGhttp://usera.ImageCave.com/starorion/IMG_0784.JPG http://usera.ImageCave.com/starorion/IMG_0788.JPGhttp://usera.ImageCave.com/starorion/IMG_0793.JPG http://usera.ImageCave.com/starorion/IMG_0795.JPGhttp://usera.ImageCave.com/starorion/IMG_0790.JPG Due to the increased thickness of this radiator, and the inefficiency of the old OEM fans, the decision was made to not adapt this offering to allow for fan re-usage. The shop has a few fan offerings in house (including a 2950 CFM unit) and there plenty of aftermarket models that meet the 2000-2500 advertised CFM suggested airflow. Contact us if you need custom brackets made. I have ordered 6 cores based of the requests that I have had, but we can add a few more if the demand is seen. The group buy price is only $360 + shipping for these (individual customization may increase the cost). That price includes an adapter fitting to the size/thread bushing of your choice for the fan switch. We ask for a non-refundable deposit of $100 at the time of order, with the remainder being due at shipping (the deposit is used to help purchase the cores, and they cannot be returned). These will take only about 2-4 weeks to complete, not the 10-12 weeks or more that others have quoted. If you have to back out of the buy for any reason, your slot can be sold to another buyer to re-coop your deposit. I will run a list of interested parties and payment receipt here. Feel free to contact myself or UlrichWolf here or to email us at the STAR-ORION account for any questions or concerns. We are dedicated to bringing Quality parts at reasonable prices. Help us keep things going. on3 racing
tell me this, do the starquests run hot. i have only owned mine for a few months. i live in tucson where summers are like 115 degrees in the shade on the out-skirts of town. i really dont want to have to worry about over heating. D_Venable
They will run hot if the cooling system has not been taken care of properly (which in all honesty, is probably more than half of these cars) OR if you have upgraded the motor past free mods, it'll get a little warmer. This is a good upgrade

jolyrgr
Monte, shipping about $25. I am getting an exact quote from the shop on the fan. slowquest shipping is $18 for one $30 for 2 Both of those are assuming residential address. Commercial address could drop the shipping slightly. slydogg, shipping about $24. I will need the weight of the fan for exact on yours and Monty's JR Edited February 27, 2009 by jolyrgr
