DEVILStarion
i have always been amazed to see the pictures of the gull-wing starions, but i know thats next to impossible owning one. i knew i was going to settle for "jack-knife doors", vertical doors or "lambo doors: as some people prefer to call it. i was very excited to discover the bolt-on doors but also hesitant because its major coin compared to the usually available "universal kits". my problem is that i don't have a shop or the technical know-how to measure, retro fit and weld one. so, i decided to order the bolt-on kit from www.lambodoors.com. i started at 1 in the afternoon and ended at 1 am. i was helped by my 16-year old son and a friend...the doors on our cars are very heavy indeed. start to finish. just the excitement of seing something different from our cars. straight forward install, all holes measured up and instructions were simple and easy to understand. i'm going to post pictures as soon as i figure out how to. if there's anyone i can help in a similar install please pm me. i'm not trying to advertise the product but for me...it's a good one. a true bolt-on! thanks! DEVILStarion
those are direct bolt on's no welding or cutting or sloppy fitting issues? yup. it was hard for me to believe 'cause i've been trying to get an email response for more than a year from the supplier and never got one. consider me as the guinea pig. i took the risk. direct bolt-on. to clear the hinge, fold the inner-lip of the fender. you don't even have to extend the door-to-fender wires. it is long enough. no welding, folding yes. you can't avoid that with a 25 lbs hinge each side. DEVILStarion
Cool mod. Was it a PITA to install? not really, a 12-pack corona and some chicken fried rice helped. what's tedious is the alignment, but you have two allen-bolts to adjust alignment that is integrated on the kit itself. one stops the door so the hinge won't hit the fender. one aligns the door to your door striker. i will take a picture of the instructions that i followed tom. very simple one-page instructions. DEVILStarion
Is that as far as they will open?? You got the "Diablo 90 degree kit" correct?? Any pics of the doors at the 90 degrees claimed?? How far will they open horizontally, before going to veritcal motion?? -Robert same distributor but no this is NOT the diablo 90 degree kit. mine is the chaser evo autostyle bolt-on, same website - www.lambodoors.com i could still open it 2 more inches up, but come to think of it... you have to pull down the door to close it, so you have to set it so it would be convenient to reach it while trying to sit down. on shows, yes i'll adjust it 2 more inches up. aesthetics thing but i've set it more practical for easy reach. plus the upward force of the damper also "fights" with your downward motion....heavy duty damper man! thanks! OBSESSIVE_ENT.
Thanks for the heads up. looks killer but I too would like to see them fully opened. if i had a dime for every time the top corner stabbed me in the ribs.. i can only imagine the botto corner. I also was thinking about the Gull wings from GT factory and since there is a 4th of july sale I may pic them up instead but that takes welding.
