My dad and I are NOT Honda people by any means but Dad got this Prelude from a police auction and put a body kit and wheels on it and just got it back from the paint shop. It looks awesome!

Check it out.

At least he didnt leave it primer gray like 99% of them

He wanted to do a modest body kit and that was as modest as he could find. Didn't want the HUGE cross country offroad lights like on the WRX or something like that. But the kit came in handy for the rear wheels to fit because the rear has molded flares into the fenders to cover the rear wheels. They are originally too wide for the fenders until he did that. Turned out very nice and will re-sell really good now.

How much did he pay for the car? Looks pretty sweet. The Prelude SI's from that time period had AWS which is neat.

I don't know exactly but I think it was something like $1200, but he has a lot more in it now, of course. My sister wants to drive it for a few months and then he is gonna sell it. He bought it to build it up and re-sell. It was a drug car. The rear quarters were full of coke and pot when the cops took it.

Dad bought those pieces new from Honda to replace. The rest of the car is in good shape.

Yea, it's AWS..

Looks good. If its the H22 motor, that thing is a highway animal! Drove a few we got at the shop, just before we cut them up and junked them

New 1/4's from the dealer! Thats no cheap. Watchout for driveways and pot holes with that kit though.

That's one awesome car then, it might sell more if you guys put some pot and coke in the rear quarters. =x Lol j/p

Great car though.

True but we don't need to sell it for millions of dollars in street value, just BlueBook value.

I know this is a bit prejudice. But I would not let your sister drive it with that body kit, or drive it period. If the car is near perfect, now is the time to sell it. Not when the car has a cracked front bumper, door dings, and other imperfections that somebody will pick apart to get you to come down on price.

Not outside quarters, inside interior quarter panels. Sorry i wasn't clear on that. They still weren't cheap. LOL!

It's actually not lowered though, just the front bumper is low. Believe me, I know all about those stupid pot holes.

Just finally got my new wheel. Now i am gonna sell the car and get something better on gas. Something with 30mpg range.

That was my thought too, but she did a lot of the body work on it and appreciates it and I would hope that she wouldn't do anything to it. But it's not my call and my Dad will just fix it if she breaks it so no big deal to him either. I hope she doesn't crack it.

Honda's only respectable car pre-2000. Only thing they have semi-neat is the S2000 but it's still a Honda :puke:

Yea, I agree for the most part. The preludes are decent though, but I would only drive the S2000.

It's funny you say that cause I am selling my C70 Volvo soon and was trying to find something that would get 30mpg or more. The only thing I could come up with was a Civic  ... I really wanted to find a good on gas convertible so I kept searching and then I came across the 99-2000 SLK 230 Kompressor. That is my next toy. Already picked out the 19x8.5, and 19x 9.5 SLR turbine wheels to make it a little different than the average SLK. But it gets 30mpg on the hwy, sometimes more, but prolly not with my foot.

Should be a sweet ride.

Something like this

Ah, staggered rims on a FWD.. Nice.

You haven't seen my FWD Volvo, that is where he got the idea. It's hard for us RWD folks to get away from RWD thinkin

No, i've seen it.. And that doesn't help.

Function>Aesthetics for me..

I do like those preludes though.

Yea, for me the car functions the same as before for traction etc, the main difference was the handling in the curves.

The Volvo is a heavy brick and making it a convertible only adds to the weight. The factory 16x7 wheels and tires were very slippery even with good tread due to tire roll on the corners. With the wheels and tires there was a nice gain in handling and the looks throw people off because they don't know what it is, especially with the ferrari knock off wheels. Get a lot of stares from other drivers trying to figure out what kind of car it is. It only says Volvo on the rear, so if you are in front or on the side you have no idea what it is. It also helps that there are very few of them in my area. But in reality, I would rather have a RWD any day. I just feel more comfortable in them. I hate front wheel spin when I launch or turn a corner.

The next car will be RWD and still get 30 mpg on the hwy. I live 50 miles from home so I need something fun with mileage to drive. :D
