that's pretty sharp - although IMO whenever you get a chance, try to match the black on the rims to the paint on the car ( it would just look even better than what it already looks like IMO )

you should nickname the car stealth fighter or something ;)

You forget, these wheels are temporary. As it is currently, it has two wheels with black centers on the pass. side, and two stock wheels on the driver's side.

On the 15th I will be buying new tires for these wheels, so the wheel color on there now won't matter a bit.....

the wheels look nice I think I liked the pics of them with no center caps better though..

I love the reflection in the fog cover in the front shot..

I thought for a second you had gone assymetrical with them but no..

I'll say it again you've done wonders with the hood...

if you ever decide to make more of those header panels I want on the list.

  • 1 year later...

Lots has changed on this car. I don't post here much as I usually hang out at www.26liter.us, but I figured I needed to update.

Since the last update, we have moved to TX and I spent my first year and a half here working at a custom hot rod/restoration shop, but am moving on to start my own shop.

About a year ago I took a messed up 88/89 airdam and molded it into the back bumper, shaved the step out of the bumper, and also welded some extension panels to the bottom of the 1/4s. Then the whole car was sprayed with satin black epoxy primer...

Since I've decided to go on my own and start my own shop, I figured it was time to finish it off nice and make it a showcase of what I can do. Then, I can take it to all the local shows and hand out business cards and such to get my name out there.

Had to upgrade the stereo, not only to have something big and custom to stand out, but also because I want to get back into car audio competing...

It's also getting repainted. It's a custom color that I mixed myself, and there's nothing like it in the world. Its made from various basecoats I had left over from other jobs mixed with some blue candy to give the basecoat some depth, then I also added 5 different pearls- orange, blue, green, red and gold. I call it Burton Blue Pearl....

I'm working to get it finished by the 30th for a local car show, but my main goal is to have it done for Nats. I have a major front bumper/airdam/bigger IC opening project planned for it later this summer, but I don't have neough time to get it done for the meet. I'll have more pics up when it's finished in the next couple weeks.

Mark...first off...looks good....'

What did you "tint" your tails with....night shades? actual tint? How much would you charge to do a set?

Yep, VHT Nite Shades. It only works on plastic lenses and is pretty easy to use. I'd be more than happy to tint a set for you if you want, but you could do it fairly easily yourself.

Got everything put back on the car. Got some wetsanding and polishing to do and some interior panels to finish off, but the car will be ready for Nats and many car shows to come...

I'll get some more pics up after I get the polishing done and my vinyl on. Maybe after a couple shows and photo shoots.

Yep, it deffinately needs to be lower. Those are Cosmo coilovers cranked all the way down but with the keeper springs still in. If I get motivated enough one day to pull all the suspension apart and take out the keeper springs that will make it much lower, but right now I'm more concerned about getting some spacers for the rear wheels. That will help the look alot too.

Here's lots more pics. Since I didn't make Nats, decided I needed to have a little photo shoot with the car here in my back yard. Some of the angles are the same, but the lighting is different to show how the paint kinda changes with light. In super bright light it looks like a super bright metallicly blue with little flecks of red, orange green and blue jumping out at you. A little less light, and it just looks like a really really deep medium blue with a little metallic in it, almost kind of a gunmetal blue. A little darker and it looks like just a solid dark blue, or a dark charcoal gray, and when it's really dusky, it looks almost black. Anyway, here ya go....

yeah, that's kind of the gunmetal blue/charcoal grayish color I was talking about. I love the dusky shots too. I swear that from 6pm to 9pm that car changes about 4 different colors.

Well, not much has changed with my car for a while but figured I'd share a few more pics I have taken since I got a hatch spoiler. I really like the last one.

Also, I was lucky enough to get it into Gearbox Magazine back in April...

I've got a few little things to fix on it yet and an considering puting these mesh wheels on an 85.5 I have and then puting some SHP's on this car with the lips polished and wheel centers car color. Well, that's what I think about most days. The other days I just consider selling it LOL.

car looks good man. The only thing that really bothers me, and I assume its for holding the mesh, is the 3 metal tabs in the grill area... If they have to be there, maybe fill the holes, and paint them black? Idk, just my opinion.

They do have to be there to hold the mesh and I started with them in black, but with it all together it looked like it got punched in the face and was missing teeth with those black spots there. I thought about removing the tabs and silicone and ziptie everything in, but that would be too ghetto for me. Even if I couldn't see then stuff I'd know it was there and not right LOL.

We should see what my wheels would look like on your car Mark.

That may not be a good idea. I'm pretty sure I know how they would look- frikken fantastic. Once they were on, I might not want to take them back off LOL.

....and this is how it looks. I traded Mingo some work for these wheels and they look killer. I do need to pull the front keeper springs out of the front sleeve overs, and drop the back a little more. That or maybe get a bigger sidewall on the front. Until then I still think it looks a million times better...
