Megasquirt Doubters?

Ok i never doubted but its always nice to see one hands on... so a friend of mine got one built it and invited me over to be the tuner for him  since i've got a laptop ;)..  All i've got to say is I can't wait to get mine.  That software control is awesome.  We had that baby puring pretty good :).  He does have some vac leaks that were making idle higher than i'd like also he said something about having to have a certain capacitor for the tach signal because it was very jumpy at low rpm but when you touch the throttle it will shoot up to 4k easy.  But do take into consideration this is a yugo 1.0 ltr. that he has and we didn't get to drive it (put a load on engine) so its going to rev pretty freely.  I was impressed and can't wait to get myself one.

I did use MSTweek.  Very handy!  I'm getting all the stuff together to run my ignition with MS&EDIS and ditching the distributor.  It'll also soon control my wastegate.  I love this DIY stuff!

Fastest four cylinder in the world didn't mean that the motor was the highest output. Just meant they put it on a light chassis (a bike, for instance). 360hp on a turbo 4, to me, isn't going to convince me of anything. But, opinions are like.... me? hehe

If DIY Engine management is your thing, sounds good.

Right, it requires a combination of high output and good aerodynamics.  Wieght is slightly less important than Aero.  You'll never see a bike hold a land speed record, their aerodynamics are incurably poor.

360 hp doesn't me either, but 619HP does tell me that the MS provides good fuel control, even at 11000 RPMS!

PA,  MS&EDIS is basically a version of the MS's software written by a third party that will control a Ford EDIS(Electronic Distributor(less?) Ignition System)it's VERY simple to adapt.  You need a 4 Cyl EDIS module, 4cyl EDIS coil pack, 36-1 toothed wheel and VR (crank) sensor from any 4, 6, or 8 cyl EDIS motor.  You'll have to mount the toothed wheel to your pulley and the VR sensor to read it(in the correct orientation)  then it's just two shielded wires from the EDIS module to the MS connector(replacing the tach and F. Idle wires), two from the crank sensor to the EDIS and a two from the EDIS to the coil pack.  It eliminates your mechanical distro and gives you complete map and RPM based mapping of your ignition timing.  Other features include variable "hardness" rev limiter and knock retard.  Check out:

I got my manifold from a scrap yard in AU.  It was $162 incl shipping, and it only took 5 days to arrive after payment was recieved.  There is contact info, etc. in another thread in this forum:

If you don't mind fabbing and have access to the equipment, I daresay this is the CHEAPEST MPI available.  Just be sure you know what mods and fab are required to run this, it is NOT a bolt-on!
