Update 02-01-04**************

This GP now closed.

I will post when Marnal ships out the heads and valves.

Thank you

*****************

Well here it is.....

Marnal NON-Jet head bare with cam towers and valve seats.

Valve seats already have a 3 angle grind, so no extra machine work is needed.

I can also get stock type valves from Marnal.  They are made by IVAM.  The exhausts are Stainless Steel.

You can get either the late model(Pre-'84) or early style valves.

There is really no difference between the two except for length and the retainers.

The biggest problem you will have with the early style valves is trying to find the correct retainers and keepers.  They are very hard to find and they are expensive if you do. The advantage to the early style valves is they are a bit longer and work well with reground cams.  Tim C. has taken care of this issue by developing shims for the lifters to make up the difference.

We need at least 10 takers for the below pricing.

You do not need to order the valves if you don't want them.  I am just giving you the option to save a bit of money.

Head shipped to lower 48 states:  $315

Valves if you order with the head:  $ 35

Valves if you order separately:  $45

There are three payment options as listed below:

Paypal charges a fee to receive a credit card payment.

The Paypal account that accepts credit card payments, charges the percentage

for all payments even if it is cash from a checking account.

I have two Paypal accounts to help deter some of these fees.

If you don't have a Paypal account, here's a link:

To pay using Paypal from your checking account:

Send $315 for the head to: marnal-gp@charter.net

If you want the valves too send an additional $35

This account is a personal type and does not have any fees.

To pay using Paypal and your Credit card or Debit card:

Send $325 for the head to: marnal-gp-credit@charter.net

If you want the valves too send an additional $35

To pay by mailing a check or money order:

            Marnal Group Purchase

            St. Charles, MO 63303

If you want the valves too send an additional $35

Make Money Orders or Checks payable to: Richard Fennell

In the memo, put "Marnal Head GP".

Pease make sure your check will clear.  We don't want to spoil this GP with bad check fees.  Not only will it delay the whole process, it will piss everyone else off.

********************************************************

When sending payments, make sure you provide all contact information along with your screen name here, a phone number and a good shipping address. (No PO boxes)

I may need to contact you if there is a problem with payment or shipping.

********************************************************

The time frame for the GP:

I will confirm and collect money until October 17th, 2003

Marnal will ship out the heads by the end of October.

As we get closer to Oct. 17th, I will know a better date for delivery.

They get shipments from the factory several times a month and they all have to clear customs.

I have this head from the last GP and I also have the valves.  I didn't even have to lap the valves as they sealed very good out of the box.

I just updated some info in the original post about collection.

Also, please do not try and contact Marnal about purchasing head direct using me or Starquestclub as a reference.  They do not deal direct with the public and I just got spoken to about this.  I do not want to upset Marnal.

Thank you,

Rich

At the begining of my intial post I talked about doing a 2 batch thing.

I'm hoping that the first batch will go out for delivery before Christmas and the second will go out a couple weeks into January.

Do to the dificulty in getting the old style retainers and keepers, I'd probably stay with the late model valves and use Tim C's spacers.

I feel confident I can track those suckers down.  I ended up pulling them from a k car so you can find them.  In my opinion if you're doing a slow careful project they are worth your time to find.  I know it's not like we have a bunch of problems with the newer style retainers and locks but just look how much beefier the old stuff was.  http://www.geocities.com/chip_lee_iii/valves.html And those valves are longer but even with a 292 cam they don't hit the pistons.  Just make sure the cam dowl pin never brakes.  the do make the 2.6 an interference engine.  A stocker can break cam locator pins all day and crank the pistons around without the cam with no trouble.  But with these valves (perhaps with any valves I don't know) and a 292 cam the pistons and the valves occupy the same space at different times until that cam dowel breaks, when they hit and bend valves and leave locator marks on the pistons.  I think the valve locks you get from napa are the big ones, and the small ones are not available.  it's the retainers you have to dig up.  I should have looked to see what that car was but I swear it was an 83 reliant k or something like that.

I'll be dropping my order to one, because one of mine was supposed to go to Ken B to replace the one he was kind enough to ship to me so I could finish an engine swap this weekend on my automatic.  (it got here today by the way Ken)  And I'm getting a Gen 2 magna head from Glen for the manual so this will just be a spare to support the GP and take advantage of the price.  I'll send payment as soon as the bank transfer into my paypal account happens.  it's a good thing I'm single this Christmas, what with a full engine and trans swap on one car, and a new head and metal gasket on another right before the holidays.  Not to mention the big brakes I, WB02 sensor, porting& polish work from T-hoff in Raleigh, and new tires for the 5speed.  I need a raise.
