Boosted_One
***NEW PICS 9-23 PLEASE SCROLL DOWN*** ------------------------------------------------------------------ Tell me what you guys think of the protype. T3 housing also use the same mounting pattern (as I was told) so these should fit also. They will have more room between the shield and housing due to the smaller sized A/R on some of the T3's. Mind you there is protective wrap on the SS but it is polished. http://a8.cpimg.com/image/90/70/22946448-f661-01C501A2-.jpg This is almost exactly how the HKS shield fits. http://store5.yimg.com/I/shopctc_1737_27689969 http://store5.yimg.com/I/shopctc_1737_27689969 THIS LINK/PIC ABOVE IS NOT THE SHIELD BEING MADE, THIS IS THE HKS SHIELD WE ARE GOING OFF OF The turbine housing shown is a spare I have and is a huge 1.15 A/R so it looks huge. Please look over and post what you think as the guy is ready to do whatever we need.
Dan
Mike, Looks great! I like it as is or extend the sheild down a bit further on the left side (closer to the flange).
Boosted_One
What if I had him extend both sides down a bit? Perhaps another inch on each side?
csdisme
I think the right side looks good, but the left side (flange side) could come down a bit. Looks good though!! ;D Cullen
Boosted_One
I'll have him bring down the flange side so it comes say within a 1/2" on the bottom?? I want everyone to like what they get so please give me as much input as you guys can. Thanks!
ChvyKc
If you bring the flange side down to where you say you are that should be straight. I am glad that somebody is finally deciding to make these. Looks good from here. David Could you maybe post a pic of the shield without the protective wrap on it? ;D
Boosted_One
I can't post without the wrap because I don;t have the piece in hand. The guy is making them. But I will when I get mine to fit. Here's a small pic of one of his shields made for a Cummings Diesel http://www.fostertruck.com/dodge/turbocvr.jpg
Rusky
Looks good. Keep us posted on price and fit. 8)
artinist
I would also like to see it be longer in both directions to give a bit more coverage. a notch for the oil line similar to the one in the pic would be nice but it may block the water lines for some folks so it doesn't have to be as long. we could also cut the extras off in case customization is necessary. anyway looks good. lets get them. Boosted_One
As far as the cut outs that's probably going to be the end user type of thing. I'm trying to keep a common design in place so it's interchangeable with the different flanges, housings, etc. I did email him about extending both sides a bit. I will see what he says and post it
Boosted_One
I think this design will be a winner. I had him lengthen both ends. Please look the pics over and tell me what you think. I'd like to get one test fitted then available. http://a6.cpimg.com/image/56/3C/23833686-e53b-0143013A-.jpg http://a5.cpimg.com/image/55/3C/23833685-69b3-018F019F-.jpg

Dan
We have a winna!... let's go with that design. Thanks for following up on this, Mike.
importwarrior
i like it! http://a6.cpimg.com/image/56/3C/23833686-e53b-0143013A-.jpg i wan this! i would rather have it too long rather than too short. you can always cut it back but can not lengthen if the material is not there. nice design! how much! artinist
Mike, i was hoping that he would make it larger in the other direction (like the one he has for the cummins). the diameter was a good size, it was the width that seems to be a bit too small. how wide is it really? it looks to be about 2.5 inches wide from the picture.
Boosted_One
If you make it wider it's going to be tough to make one to fit all the different downpipes. I don't think there's a person here with a Garrett that has identical downpipes. I know mine makes an 80* turn out of the turbine discharge. Also with the V band the bolt to the clamp would hit it if you extend it too far. The shield will extend about flush with the flange on the turbine housing. This design was going to be like the HKS shields which cover the turbine housing only. THere's too many variable unlike the simple standard design of those Cummings setups. The downpipe can be wrapped for convection purposes. Price will be under $50 I have to work that out but the guy is cool like that.
artinist
another half inch from each side would be nice

I want to make sure this fits well so everyone is happy. I saw a set of HKS shields on a guys TT Supra last week and I must say they looked GREAT. Hopefull these will follow suit. Boosted_One
I received the shield today. Hopefully I can get it on tomorrow if it isn't raining. It looks sweet! He told me that this is a prototype so there's a few scratches but I think the guy is being picky as it looks really nice. Just a minor update
scotty
does "the guy" have a name or is his anonymity necessary ? Nice work as far as I can tell byt the pics .
Boosted_One
His name is Larry from Foster Truck. Why does that matter what his name is?? Also if you have a Mitsu turbo why would you care?? LOL Don't know his height, weight or marital status either. Â
Chad
Does he like cats? my wife has a cat ;D Anyway, looks good mike, I look forward to seeingone on a car. My T-4 sits a bit close to the plug wires (custom headder) so I'd need to see how the cover sits. How far from the outter edge of the turbine to the outter dege of the cover? looks like about 1/2".
