Jester
I am looking to get a new complete head because the i have 1 exhaust manifold hole over m10X1.25 and i tried to heli coil but the hole is to big. I was wondering if this would be a good replacement and if there is another direction i would love to hear about it. T-Harps
How about drilling it larger, tapping it, and just using a bolt?
scott87star
Yeah I wouldn't buy a whole new head just because one stud isn't right. Got to be more cost effective to get someone to TIG some material in there, then drill and tap for the correct size.
Starfighterpilot
Rather than buying a new head or using a heli-coil to repair your problem I would use a Timesert. I have used 'em for the past 20 some odd years rather than a heli-coil. Timeserts provide much greater holding strenght - especially in the G54B engine's aluminum alloy heads. Extensive testing in GM plants have shown that solid bushing inserts are superior to coil wound inserts! http://www.timesert.com/ For What It's Worth.
