IF it were possible to make a 300 MPG car they wouldn't be making only 500 of them. They could sell millions of them and people would pay premium prices. I have been avid about doing that when I get stupid FW:FW:FW chain emails scaring about this or that urban legend. Totally assumed the conspiracy about non-US was crap, and the stats to be likely overinflated. Both true. Anything over 100-150 mpg is still impressive, but driving in an oversized suitcase with wheels isn't worth it if the limited range is so underwhelming according to Snopes.
