GINASQ
WIll 16x10 -27 offset wheels fit on our widebody cars? I found a wheel I really like by the only size that are 16's is 16x10 with -27 offset all around. EDIT: Offset is -27 not -33. viper1355
http://www.starquestclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=136636 Do the math with the info in there, and you'll find that the rears will likely fit, but probably not the fronts. What's the goal here? Are you going for looks, or performance? I'll also warn you that finding tires for that size will suck if you're not going for a stretch fitment. GINASQ
Looks and performance. Only reason I'm considering 16x10 is because the other sizes are 15x7/8/10.
viper1355
If you're attached to these wheels, you're going to probably need to do some work. You'll also probably need a stretch tire fitment - I didn't find anything in the normal sizes to fit that tire in a quick search. Typically I see wheels in that size/offset going on lifted trucks. My advice? Find a tire size you like and then find wheels to fit the tires if you're truly looking for performance. http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/tech/techpage.jsp?techid=101 ^ That explains offset halfway decently. SHP 9's are 9" wide (duh) with a zero offset. You can pretty well fit an 16" x 10" in the back on stock suspension at 0 offset. Anything much larger or much different offset will require fenders rolled or camber adjustment with stretched tires. Fronts are a little trickier since they turn and you need to clear steering components and whatnot. As a general rule of thumb, you can usually go an inch larger than stock in all directions except inwards on stock suspension. Beyond that you get into a whole bunch of variables and much more work. GINASQ
Damn I'm looking into it and it really is hard to consider them for the fronts. Might have to go down to the 15"
jszucs
Damn I'm looking into it and it really is hard to consider them for the fronts. Might have to go down to the 15" 15"s will limit your "performce tire" selection..... if your really going for performace your going to want to step up to a 17 maybe even an 18 as tires for 17's will be going the way of 16's in the next few years. GINASQ
15x8/10 isn't that bad for tires.
patra_is_here
Can u post a link to these wheels? Btw I have 16x9.5 and its nearly impossible to find tires. Even a 225 width tire is only available in competition tread at like $250 a tire
patra_is_here
I'm guessing truck rims right?

GINASQ
My good friend has no problem finding tires for both his 930's one all track car the other his dd. One with 16x9/10 and 15x9/10 the other is something else (cant remember). I know he runs Kuhmo and toyo and bfg. patra_is_here
idk, the widest 16" i could find was a 245/50/16 which is a very tall sidewall. that's a taller tire than stock. no thanks. track tires (competition), like i said, are available. do yourself a tire search online and see what you can find
GINASQ
I know what tires I can find I can get tires for the wheels. Just wondering if the wheels would fit the car. Which seems very not likely. I'll just put the wheels on something else.

patra_is_here
he's saying none of us can find tires to fit these cars especially wider than stock size. so if you have a source, let us know.
jszucs
What are you saying? Magic? I'm saying the tires do not exist...... Tire makers for the most part have 100% stopped making tires wider then a 225 for a 16" rim..... soon 17's will be going the same way. Other then a few race compound and a few cheep junk off brand tires, there are almost no tires wider then a 225 for 16" rim. And when you do fine one here or there they are 1 or 2 of them and they are old. I want to run something with a dot date within the last 2 years max. I would like you to show me a source for 16" tires in wide sizes so 255 265 285 295 305 with my choice of maker, diffrent tire styles, and choice in compound the tires are made of..... It does not exist, and has not for quite a few years now. The law changes on imported tires also put a major damper on this a few years ago also. GINASQ
Whoa lay off, I didnt say the choices were big. I said, "I know what tires I can find I can get tires for the wheels. Just wondering if the wheels would fit the car". In other words, I know the selection of tires for that size but I'm asking if those wheels would fit the car. In the post before I stated the tire brands. Nowhere did I say there was a big selection and a selection that was that wide as far as tire specifics. As far as your last request and what you're asking me. It's completely unnecessary to ask that since I never stated that that was a task that was easy. I would like for you to acknowledge that you understand what I am saying in this post. So we can no longer make long drawn out post about your assumptious misinterpretations of what I clearly typed. And if I was not clear, please state that so I can clarify or edit my post to general understanding.
jszucs
I though it was just common knowledge that anything wider then a 225 for a 16" rim is no longer made other then a few competition compounds, old stock (old enough at this point you don't want to run them), and slicks. And we still have not seen the source. Yes they could be made to fit but are going to stick out with a - offset and that is not like a + that you could just soak up with a spacer. So looks wise not my cup of tea (will stick out like upgraded rims on a flat sided jeep), and geometry wise out of wack.
