XtremeMotorworks
Played with a lot of cars and recently had this weird feeling I needed to buy a Starion lol So for no other reason than I thought it would look cool and go with my 71 colt/4g63 project I picked up a 86 this weekend. IMo its a very solid start, just started pressure washing the years of dirt off it and get it tuned up. Pulls hard but idles like crap and Im sure about half the vacum lines are correct and the thermostat housing was replaced with one that didnt have the coolant temp bung, so its hose clamped to it. O and i have one rear wheel wider than the other I found out today. Well here she is... XtremeMotorworks
Thanks guys, goal is just to have a fun daily driver but I can tell aready I need more boost lol But for now Ill just be happy to get rid of all the smog and vacum lines going nowhere, have a smooth runner and maybe steal one of my tial blow off valves to sound cool! Also appears I should have an o2 sensor and I do not, any reason why that would be the case beside the last guy was a hack? Have some videos on my youtube channel, none of the new sled yet though... http://www.youtube.c...er/petersonsink Edited October 28, 2013 by XtremeMotorworks
87quest_stv
no reason there shouldnt be a O2 sensor on the stock set up. Heck. even a modified setup is going to have an O2 sensor.. unless the guy moved it more down exhaust if he upgraded to a wideband

TexasQuest
Welcome, awesome toys! And yes you need the O2 sensor for the ecu.
XtremeMotorworks
Well found one vacuum line that was not plugged and installed a o2 sensor sensor. Getting better but still comes down to a high idle and then surges a few times and then settles down to a decent idle.

R-R-Quest
Nice. Love the colt! Do you have a build thread of more information about it somewhere on the net? Been looking for one of those or a cricket as a future project. Hard to find one that's not beyond repair.
Burton
One rear wheel wider than the other rear wheel, or the rear wheels are wider than the fronts? The rears on widebodies are 1" wider than the fronts. Most came with 7's up front and 8's on the rears. The SHP versions had 8's on the fronts and 9's on the rears. There are stampings on the inside of the wheels that will say 16X7 (non SHP fronts), 16X8 (could either be SHP fronts, or Non SHP rears), 16X9 (SHP rears), then there are stamps on the front on the spoke closest to the vale stem. Those stampings differentiate the SHP and non SHP... SHP: Notice, the stamping is inside a "box" Non SHP: Notice on that one, the stamping is not inside a "box" Edited October 29, 2013 by Burton
XtremeMotorworks
Ok on the rear the skinny rear wheel has the stamp with the box in it and the other side which is wider does not. So then I must have a shp front wheel on the rear?
Burton
Ok on the rear the skinny rear wheel has the stamp with the box in it and the other side which is wider does not. So then I must have a shp front wheel on the rear? Well, that's weird... A non shp 8 shouldn't be "skinnier" than a SHP 8. However, due to the different offsets between a front 8 and a rear 8, if a front 8 is on the rear, it will sit way inside the wheelwell edge where a rear wheel will sit flush, regardless of width. For instance, I got a car with SHPs all around, except one of the 8" fronts was replaced by a 8" Non SHP rear... the non SHP wheel/tire stuck out an inch or so past the fender. I suspect both rear wheels are 8", but one is a SHP front and the other a non SHP rear I suspect the back of both wheels say 16X8. Oh, and also, I love the Colt and Celica too! Not a big fan of the liftback Celicas of that generation, but I love the coupes. Might want to take the pic down tho... scantily clad women posing with cars is a no-no here. I had a similar pic of my wife and her car pulled. Edited October 29, 2013 by Burton
XtremeMotorworks
Guess I didnt mean it was narrower than the other side, I didnt check that yet, You can tell the non SHP rear one has more dish to it. I just need to stop being lazy and pull the wheels off, need to find one wheel regardless anyways.
XtremeMotorworks
So did a little more work, nothing to exciting though... Buffed out the paint, cant really tell since it got dirty in the rain right away lol Also removed the crappy paint job on the wheels and Tim from Motocam360 hook me up with the correct rear wheel.Going to PC them black after the winter. Also took off the ghetto lawn trim lip on the front...http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k102/willthethrill256/ResizedImage_1383844384739_zps97589cc7.jpghttp://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k102/willthethrill256/ResizedImage_1383844385089_zps85229010.jpg Removed the EGR and anything else I could, cut the air box open, had a 2.5 exhaust bent up real quick minus the cat. http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k102/willthethrill256/ResizedImage_1383844385441_zpsf72fb7ff.jpg Also my friend Mario at http://thedubshop.net/ sent me a few new injector clips, car runs a 100 times better now. I have some jet valve eliminator kit, valve seals and some tubing for the charge pipes and tial BOV coming here soon. Should keep me having fun for awhile, needs to be lowered bad though, not digging the 4x4 look ! Also I don't really have build thread on the Colt, when I really get going on the 4g63 swap you guys could follow it here on my FB page and Ill start a build thread here to.. https://www.facebook...tremeMotorworks http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k102/willthethrill256/1039755_641233675906022_262015373_o_zps91e0ea71.jpg http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k102/willthethrill256/ResizedImage_1383844385731_zps8efcf468.jpg Edited November 7, 2013 by XtremeMotorworks
XtremeMotorworks
OK so need some help here. So car has new plugs, wire, down pipe, fuel filter,no cat, open up air box, new 02, jet valves removed, injector clips, egr removed and has been running pretty well. Shows about 10psi on stock quage and I run 92. Car seemed to run a little flat at higher rpm and then today it started to runs worse and pretty soon wouldnt pull rpm and was cutting out. Found one plug with some alum stuck on the tip not allowing it to fire and another plug that was running way to lean also. Replaced plugs and running OK again. Have any idea on why the lean / timing issue?
