87quest_stv
87quest_stv How did you get your head lights to look like that? What head lights did you put it there. custom fab. tore the old light assembly out and only re-used the lid. built my own light box and mounts for HID projectors.here's a link to my build.... I stopped working on the car dead in its tracks a yr and a half ago. so I dont have any further progress at this time. But I'm planning to start again. http://www.starquestclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=129075
jtmuncher
what is this small harness used for? its the one on the passenger firewall right next to the clutch fluid res . also correct me if I am wrong but since there is an open connection now, I need to run a brake line from the proportion valve to the master cylinder right? thankshttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v440/leche1103/null_zps3a861493.jpg Edited October 28, 2013 by jtmuncher

importwarrior
well as far as engine harness goes.i would figure out the wire colors for theoil pressure sender wirestarter wirewater temp gauge sensor wirethen try and save then to use on your new engine. then most of the gauges should work.if you choose to use the stock gauges on the car. 19cturbo
on that brake line, you can either get a new line and run it. or, like i did, i reused the factory one, i just cut and reflared the end of it and re bent it to go to the proportioning valve.. jtmuncher
Thanks guys. I appreciate the help. Unfortunately the previous owner hacked up some of the wiring under the dash and down near the ecu. The more I can eliminate the better. I think I bit off as much as I can chew with this car, maybe a little more.

importwarrior
Use a bottle jack and some wood on that trans tunnel. I read some where one guy used that when he did his swap.
jtmuncher
damn... that was fast.. great job Thanks. IMO it took me way to long...the car is really in bad shape. Most of the bolts/nuts that come off are rusted and a lot of of the body panels are rusted as well. next on the list; finish removing engine harness, gut out everything out under the passenger side dash, open up hole in firewall for Toyota harness, open up trans tunnel.... in that order. As for the tunnel, I like the idea of the bottle jack so I will try that first. Need to go thru the threads to see exactly where and how much it needs to widen. Thanks again. 19cturbo
that was me.. it worked like a charm! no hammer just kept flipping the jack from side to side pressing one side then the other.,.. mainly you just want to flatten the ribs that are under there.. http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd23/19cturbo/1JZ%20SWAP/5F5161EE-8640-4320-8DF8-57E07E0DEB2A-315-000000C94969F11B_zps095eb45d.jpg
19cturbo
are you retaining your ac? if you remove that big black box for the AC, the toyota harness will go right through that hole.. http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd23/19cturbo/1JZ%20SWAP/CBD3578B-E666-4DC6-9851-17840E466E5E-49022-000020D315D3876A_zps17479b84.jpg then i made a bracket and mounted my ECU where that box was.. http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd23/19cturbo/1JZ%20SWAP/6F72D4E1-D22D-433B-8271-C351BD833658-27462-0000115385A96A1F_zpsd92948e5.jpg
jtmuncher
Nah AC is gone along with just about every other amenity. At this point I hope the head lights work. The popup mechanism would be a plus haha. I thought that existing hole in the fw had to be widened a bit. Thanks for mentioning that about the ribs in the tunnel. Now I know exactly what needs to be done. We have beading air guns at work that might do this job if my compressor will keep up. I hope to have more updates next week. Thanks again.
