quest4me2
i keep having the oring in the fuel pressure regulator (small one) fail and allow fuel to pour out around the regulator ( maybe twice a year) ....major fire hazard......i read where ethanol is hell on rubber..... any thoughts ? eric
StarquestRescue
Where are you buying your orings? I think i had two regulator o rings fail in 20 years. Both were hard as a rock from age.
CaliConquestAlex
Switch to a more durable o-ring such as one made of viton or Buna-N. I'm using viton o-rings for all of my injectors and the FPR and haven't seen any degradation. Edited November 21, 2012 by CaliConquestAlex
Technology
Maybe go with a factory one from Mitsu. Some are not suited for gasoline in the first place and could cause the problem. I have been running E85 (that's 85% ethanol) fuel for a few years now and it's not a problem with regular rubber fuel lines. If the rubber is not made to work with gasoline, it will fail, no matter what level of ethanol is in the fuel. Gasoline with 10% ethanol in it is pretty common and it does nothing but good for engines. It reduces an engine's propensity to knock.
quest4me2
the o-rings come from the TB kits i get at autozone.....it is a strange failure...i have normal fuel pressure, measured at the TB....it just seems to blow out and then leak and drip down off the regulator....i get paranoid when i start it and want to take a peak under hood every time i drive it.....irratating..... eric Edited November 21, 2012 by quest4me2
Skullzaflare
sounds like its rolling over when installed. do you put oil on the before you slide the regulator back in?
Technology
Yes, make sure it's a tight fit on the regulator, but is the correct outside diameter for the fuel rail. And use grease or oil around the o-ring when installing it.
