leesquest
Which temp sensor is the culprit which affects the overdrive functions of the automatic trans? Does anyone have a pic of it? Lee

89PalermoSHP
Why not clean each and every terminal while your at it.
leesquest
Well, I cleaned them, among other terminals in that area, and sad to say it made no difference in the overdrive. I gues now I need to start looking at the tranny itself.
89PalermoSHP
Check the FSM for what step to take in what order to diagnose your problem. No OD seems to be one of the biggest issues.
The Rabbit1
if you said what it is doing then maybe we can help a lil better..
MotoCam360
Does anybody know the p/n for the 2 blade temp sensor that controls OD? Here is what I found, but not sure if it relates to OD or not, since there's 2 sensors on the intake: http://www.autoparts...89QQSITX32.html Thanks Edited October 9, 2012 by MotoCam360
leesquest
if you said what it is doing then maybe we can help a lil better.. Its not doing. He he, thats just it. I built a car and purchased a tranny and am troubleshooting possible problems that may cause it not to work at all. All the rest of the gears are perfect. The Rabbit1
what are your rpms at 45mph and at let's say 60mph? if you turn the ignition to "ON" but leave the car not running and have someone cycle the o/d switch on the shifter while your underneath by the trans do you hear the O/D override solenoid click? also have someone put the pedal the whole way down and verify the kickdown solenoid clicks as well. Alan
Does the temp guage work? And have you done a OD band adjustment?
leesquest
temp guage does work, no band adjustment has been done. I am going to put another tranny in it that I know works and then take this tranny apart.
leesquest
I was looking in the FSM and couldnt find anything. Does the O.D. cancel soledoid just unscrew from the tranny? If not, how do I take it out?
The Rabbit1
I believe so, disconnect cable from wiring above bellhousing, unscrew solenoid, test with battery for a clicking, change o-rings, put back in trans, make sure trans has good ground wire on tail housing. Alan
Yes it unscrews. Do what Rabbit 1 says, I did the same to mine.
leesquest
I replaced the trans. I now have overdrive again. I am now getting 30.27 mpg on the highway.
