Mike_StarionTSI
Seems pretty neat. With the right stuff, you can make it pure gasoline or 50/50 at any time. Besides, hasn't steam has always been a big producer of torque? http://www.damninteresting.com/the-six-stroke-engine/
Killtodie
5 and 6 stroke concepts been around for nearly 50 years. I cant load your link but I'm going to assume the 5th adn 6 stroke is water injection that turns to steam and makes it more effective. problem is keeping that water clean and not mixing with oil, rusting anda few other things.excellentt info herehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Six-stroke_engine
Chad
do those 5 strokes switch to power stroke on the upstroke every other cycle? radical concept.
tankbob
What kind of difference in power is there between the fuel/air combustion and the water/steam combustion? Is this only a feasable concept for economic cars or any car?
Mike_StarionTSI
if you get hotter burning fuel, with a liquid that has lower boiling point and expands faster than water, you'll have more power. so no, its not only for economy lol
The Rabbit1
except with that concept you have no hot water to make heat so add an electrical heater, ok.. and then the price of distilled water will skyrocket..
Mike_StarionTSI
umm, the heat in the cylinder will evaporate the water spray instantly

ucw458
are you talking to me? I meant as in "heat" I like my car to have heat in the winter.. Plenty of ways to get heat. For instance how do you get heat from an air cooled engine? Easy, Porshe and VW put ducting on the exhaust and stole heat from there. Best car heater I ever saw was on a 67 Porshe. Air got really warm within 30 seconds. 5 minutes later I closed the heater vents because I was sweating. The Porshe also had a backup gasoline powered heater in the trunk. Turborusty
The government will soon find a way to make tires and water and seat upholstery priced out of everyone's reach....why bother making the engine more efficient? They'll kill the passenger automobile one way or another. Turborusty
