Back in Black, Newbie

I had an 87 Black Technica with an automatic that I picked up in 1988. Kept it until 1997, and traded it on a used 1988 Lincoln Town Car. My wife drove the Conquest, and was going to have our first baby. I wanted some heavy armor steel around them. General Patton would have felt safe in that Lincoln. Always regreted it. On Sunday, I just bought a Black 87 TSi with only 51K miles on it. Garage kept, and 100% stock. Can't wait to pick it up tomorrow, June 7th.

Oh wow, that's a pretty car, nice work.

I do love the way they look without having to have a numberplate mounted on the front like we have to over here, so much cleaner and tidier.

Actually in New Jersey we are supposed to have a front plate. I just keep it in the glove box. Don't want to block the intercooler, and I'm not a fan of the license on the right side.

So, I've had the car for about 6 weeks so far. My son is 14 years old, and 8 or so of his buddies in the neighborhood all really like the Quest. Drove a couple of them to a Phillies game last week. Word spread in their circle. They all want one now as their first cars, but most want automatics. When the 15 year olds really dig it, that's a true thumbs up.

I registered mines as a Collectors here in MN so I only have to use the back plate. NO TABS :D

Not to mention the collectors plate is just black and white, without all the fancy colors states like to design their plates with. Looks much nicer in my opinion.

I'm doing the same thing eventually. But in NJ they don't give you the forms at the regular DMV locations. Only the Trenton office and only during the day. Not on line either. So I have to take and afternoon off from work to get it. Ain't that dumb.

Welcome back to the fold! We should save that pic of the airdam replacement in the newbie section!! You can't imagine how much work it is till you go through it. My friend bought his conquest back in '87 and fragged the airdam in only 3 or 4 months. Took it to the bodyshop and cried...the cost to paint and install the dam was about 4 or 5x the cost of the actual part! I remember sitting around at the body shop all afternoon watching them do it...
