Declutter the Engine Bay

Recommended Posts

Ive tried searching on the site and can't seem to find anything on how to declutter the engine bay. I have no use for the A/C, I live in WA State and I wouldn't mind moving some things around to get it cleaned up. Is there a write up somewhere that I have missed?

you can remove the abs canister, the ac and lines, if you dont want cruise control you can remove the module and the vacuum pump infront of the core support, the vacuum lines can be cleaned considerably and the secondary air system/charcoal canister can be removed and still pass emissions. The relays are commonly relocated into the inside of the drivers fender to help further clean up the engine bay...

Hahaa, true that.

Is there a wire tuck thread on here?

There is a thread on here but the search feature sucks. I did save the pics though

It sure does look nice, to declutter. But for spoiled peeps like me, I sure do enjoy my AC and I do like cruise control. I always did like the fuse box in the fender idea, only problem is those fuse links sure do go bad, more often than I care to remember.

But hey, that's just the old fart in me talking.

yeah, but there's a little computer under the false floor in the trunk that you unplug then the light goes away.

I need to do this since my ABS is definetly gone but the light is on. I tried searching its location but no results. Where under the false floor is it?

Dear God don't do this, every person who tries it has to search out electrical gremlins....

Only problem I have had was on a 89 harness two plugs near the t stat are the same. And if you swap them the car won't start. I fingered it out and the car started right up.

Other then that, yes I had to pull the fender because I had lost all lighting. Once I found the problem it was a fuse able link burnt down at the spade. Now I put the fuse able links right behind the marker light so I could get at the without pulling the fender. Only reason I pulled the fender was at first I checked to see if the links were burnt- pinching them, and all where fine. AFTER PULLING THE FENDER I found the the link burned down at the spade

Yea i mounted my fusable links at the bottom pointing towards the ground so i can get to them with the fenders on still. Do it! Its a fairly easy mod and looks very good when u do it right. I did mine and havnt looked back yet! Gets so many looks and questions, and cleans the bay up so much!

because it so hard to pull a fender? if you cant do the tuck, you can pull a fender to check things. it not much more then stock really. i have 5 years total on my tuck

pull the bumper and fender just to check your fusible links.....they put the fusible links in such an easy place to access because they need to be easily accessible...how do you check yours when your stuck on the side of the road with a blown ECI fuse? pull the bumper and fender?

I lay on the ground and look up and check them! U just gotta be smart about your placement if stuff. Not hard to spend a few extra minutes planning stuff like that out...... And even if i had to pull the fender i can have my fender off in less then 5 minutes if i had to. Its not hard to keep a 10mm and a phillips screw driver in your car.
