SERIOUSLY, CAN A SQ BE A REALIABLE DAILY DRIVER?

taken out the coil of wire for the ammeter that you will find under the smaller fusible links/relays and rewired through a early Montero setup I found in a junkyard.

What would be the symptoms...if this was bad? My 86 has this and I was warned about it potentially being a problem.

Oh okay. I wonder why they would put 2 feet of wire there, then roll it all up with a piece of tape over it? That's such a waste of wire, when u multiply it by how many cars they made that way.

I daily my Conquest. Matter of fact, after letting it sit for over a year untouched, I tossed in a battery, filled up the tank, and drove over 700 miles in under 24 hours. Only issue so far was a splitting crank pulley, which is most likely due to my overtightened alt belt, and the fact it's 25 years old and has sat through a couple winters. Not bad for the "parts car".

My Starion, on the other hand, bless her heart is a nightmare. Really depends on how they're cared for, as well as service and maintenance. Though that's not always true, my Conquest was beat every day and even to this day stretches her legs on plenty of occasions, and my Starion was towed behind an RV its entire life.

Mine is MPI and pretty modified. Daily drive it lol about 10-15 a day. Sometimes more. I've driven 100 straight and not a hiccup and the temp was real low. The only problem is my gas mileage, and that's because i need the wideband hooked up and a tune.

Idk if anyone mentioned it, but for reliability sake, make sure your car cools, and keep everything at 65% duty or less. That goes for injectors, turbo, fuel pump, etc. I would get a decent Intercooler, for cooling. I've been on the highway going about 70-80 mph constant. An occasional 90 without noticing the speed increasing lol. My temp was literally right on the line of cold. It surprised me lol

you need some heat to make MPG , sounds like part of your mpg problem may be too cold of an engine , you need to reach 170f minimum , esp with an mpi intake,, it don't warm up like the tbi intake does , 180f does not cause head over heat problems

nor does it cause high pressure in the cooling system

durring normal summer days my MPi ran arround the 176f range and under normal driveing would give me 30+ mpg

My 1st Quest, an 89 is recently down due to a "wrong turn"... but still starts & runs very well; 17 yrs. now. It'll be back! My 1st decent car after drive'n $500 cars from a divorce & costly custody battle! (kids grown & couldn't even fit into the back seat now, really can't even fit in the passenger seat?) Basic replacements/maintenance, it's the best! Butt... ya gotta have more, it's an obsession. (sorta)
