PDodson
I am wanting to permanently(sort of) attach my louver brackets to my glass and have tried double stick tape a couple times and to much avail did not stay very long...once it got hot it came right off....is there anything I can use that will hold and not mess up the glass( if I decide to remove them later on)
dmyers151
I'd say put on your favorite dress and hit the local craft store. Those places have all kinds of crazy stuff for gluing to odd media like glass.
dmyers151
Maybe this stuff? Doesn't say much about removing it. Loctite - Glass Glue Edited June 27, 2011 by dmyers151
PDodson
i mean I guess I could just leave the brackets on the glass, and just remove the louver....they are not that hideous looking

natallica
3M makes a line of product called VHB tape (Very High Bond). It comes in varying thicknesses and widths for many different applications. These may be what you're looking for, but may only be available online... and it's rather salty but works for all kinds of projects. I used to do large format printing and this stuff was a godsend!!! -N8
on4now4
whatever you do make sure it is a urethane base so that it will hold up to the vibration. This is the exact stuff i used after trying basically everything that everyone else has suggested. http://www.levineautoparts.com/3m08690.html I highly recommend it. Its some of the 3M body panel adhesive double sided tape. It holds up really well, and I have access to plenty of it. There are several temperature ranges available. Call and ask for a sample and you will get enough to use for your louver application. Burton
I made a couple spoilers for our Kia and I have used the basic 3M emblem tape to put them on the car. Of course it worked great on the deck lid lip spoiler, but I also used it to attach the upper rear window spoiler to the rear glass and it has been holding on fine... http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10087/6-18-11_012.jpg http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10087/6-18-11_011.jpg http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10087/6-18-11_009.jpg http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10087/6-18-11_010.jpg Of course, I'm sure those spoilers are much lighter than the SQ louvers, so I don't know if I'd trust just the basic emblem tape to hold the weight. I think I'd use the stronger 3M tape or some urethane used to install glass on them. That, or I'd try out some of the other good ideas presented in this thread. BUT I bought some 3M Super Weatherstrip Adhesive, which SHOULD do the job. 3.99 at the local store.

DMNDSTAR87
mmm super weather strip adhesive is for bonding/sealing rubber and will not hold for long not to mention when in direct sunlite it will heat up and become soft and lose its bond integrity----mmm/8752--rear view mirror adh or mmm/8155 quick fix adhesive(shock and temp resistant)-just remember adhesives are like people and can come unglued at any time given the right circumstances---good luckgig out Edited July 8, 2011 by DMNDSTAR87
