D_Venable
Well, this is gonna be a long build, and I've put a couple pics and drawings up on facebook, and it was suggested to start a build thread. And since it's non-SQ, I figured here would be the best place. Right now Ive got a V92C frame (first gen Victory) an '06 kingpin swingarm, and on the way are a set of wheels off a '10 Cross Country, and a few other small things. Here's the sketch that started it all... http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/VictoryCafe.jpg It's changed slightly since then though. The current direction I'll be going with, although very similar, slightly different, should also make building the frame a little easier. http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/11-6-10victory.jpg I started out with the main frame section/backbone from a V92C... http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P9170072.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P9170073.jpg I'm using this frame to make a jig to build the new frame from, but my welder didn't have much gas left in it, so I didn't get too far on it yet. http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/PB070121.jpg
BrazilBoy
Looks like a modern Cafe Racer style bike.......Good choice http://www.caferace.com/americancaferacer.jpg http://honaha.files.wordpress.com/2008/08/zero_cafe034.jpg
D_Venable
yeah, it is. My main goal is to have a small amount of storage in the tail. I got caught twice on the way to, and in Stugis this past year without my rain gear (was on a Victory Kingpin with no storage) and I don't want to have that happen again, lol
BrazilBoy
good thought......A small bottle rainx helps too, keep those shades clear...
strang3majik
that'll be pretty cool. The cafe style is probably one of my favorites as far as bikes go. What for motor are you planning on using? My dad has an 05 Vegas and that thing moves. A friend of his has a harley with edelbrock heads, larger carb, exhaust...etc, (whatever they do to the bikes), and my dads stock Victory runs away from it...lol Reliable too. D_Venable
It'll be a Victory motor, be nice to find a 106 motor fairly new, but to get one, it's gonna have to be a salvage find, so we'll see how that goes, lol. Yeah, the Kingpin I rode was a 2011 with the new accessory Cobra 2-into-1, nice loud, but damn fast. The 6th gear was really nice, although the group from work I was with was doing 80-90 the entire time, so I was only getting 35mpg (the one time I was able to calculate). I did managed 50mpg the week I had the same bike before the trip. but yeah, just roll on the throttle, and your flying, not bad for a 660lb bike
D_Venable
good thought......A small bottle rainx helps too, keep those shades clear... just the tinted shield on my carbon Victory helmet (don't feel safe on a bike with no helmet, or jacket)

SOTTY
Gotta love the "Cafe racer" look , brings back good and old memories , i myself have put the Starquest resto work aside for the moment (except Roberto's nephews old Atlantic blue 87 which i'm helping its new owner with) and about to restore a 83 Honda CB1100F motorcycle which i trip over daily , it needs very little being it has only 15,000 original miles and i'll be selling it when its done as i dont ride anymore and probably use the dough to buy more Starions ! , good luck with the Cafe project , badazz ! D_Venable
tiny bit further on the jig (it now holds the frame, lol http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/PB090137.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/PB090138.jpg Hey look, it's my ugly mug, lolhttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/PB090139.jpg
D_Venable
little more done on the jig, not nearly complete though. Once I get the steering head location tied in snugly, I'll be doing a bunch of bracing to make sure it won't move at all. http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/PB100141.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/PB100142.jpg

D_Venable
more done to the jig tonight, couple more pieces needed to grab the piece to the rear cylinder motor mount, I should be chopping this frame up this weekend, all I really need it for now is the steering head. I got the motor mount brackets today for this older frame, plus a rear drive pulley, rear brake caliper and mount, and a seat release cable for the older victory's (I'll use it to pull the seat on the bike to access the storage area in the tail). ps, I love having a welder http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/PB110147.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/PB110148.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/PB110149.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/PB110150.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/PB110151.jpg

D_Venable
bent up a bunch of tubing at work last weekend, and have slowly been messing with the frame. got the one final main tube in, and started cutting some of the 1/4" plate http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/PB260172.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/PB260173.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/PB260174.jpg
