Frenchi934
Here are pictures of shaving the lock on the door: First I cut a filler plate for the back of the hole out of a similar guage metal (to minimize distortion when welding). http://img25.imageshack.us/img25/9707/sdc11047h.jpg Then I cut a peice of pipe and text fitted it before bending a tab and welding it up: http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/1314/sdc11048m.jpg http://img839.imageshack.us/img839/5108/sdc11049.jpg http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/4724/sdc11050t.jpg http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/2233/sdc11054h.jpg

Frenchi934
what you gonna do when your cable breaks This isnt a highly stressed cable... If it ever happens to break all you would have to do is pull the interior panel and unlatch it from the inside.
Frenchi934
Didn't get to lay down any color this weekend, but the weather was less than cooperative...especially considering my paint was bought and calculated for 85-95 degree weather :[ heres what I got done today: Painting parts requires less taping off, but more enginuity on how things need to be held haha: http://img52.imageshack.us/img52/3070/sdc11055.jpg http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/7170/sdc11056t.jpg http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/3140/sdc11057.jpg and the after photos: http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/8519/sdc11058gq.jpg http://img404.imageshack.us/img404/5867/sdc11059e.jpg http://img338.imageshack.us/img338/848/sdc11060b.jpg http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/261/sdc11061s.jpg http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/2968/sdc11062.jpg http://img228.imageshack.us/img228/5017/sdc110630.jpg Just have to wet sand this stuff and that will be a big chunk out of peices left to paint... Frenchi934
also, yes the weld is kind of ugly, but instead of just creating a smooth steady bead, I tried to tack here and there until complete so I wouldnt warp the cover. Frenchi934
Post-semester update part 2 rear seats in: http://img258.imageshack.us/img258/3897/sdc11073m.jpg I lost that plastic sheet under the door panels so I made a new one for each side: http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/3026/sdc11077p.jpg http://img718.imageshack.us/img718/4327/sdc11074g.jpg I had a hole in my drivers door panel and both of them were missing speaker grills so I got another set of tan ones, although this set was a darker tan....I swapped over the window switches (auto switch) and the accent panels and here it is: http://img831.imageshack.us/img831/4572/sdc11076.jpg http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/2728/sdc11078a.jpg A little strange at first but it grows on you and looks way better than the other panels: http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/7461/sdc11079e.jpg http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/2079/sdc11080x.jpg My scuff covers were very deteriorated so I had to try something drastic: http://img145.imageshack.us/img145/8354/sdc11081j.jpg Turned out just fine though: http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/8339/sdc11084w.jpg I also got a new console lid and shift knob/boot: http://img818.imageshack.us/img818/8623/sdc11085.jpg http://img829.imageshack.us/img829/7805/sdc11086d.jpg Going for that factory look-theme, I put an HKS mechanical boost guage in the factory location: http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/4318/sdc11094b.jpg http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/3269/sdc11096r.jpg http://img690.imageshack.us/img690/7159/sdc11095u.jpg

Frenchi934
haha it is turning out pretty good for a first time job...I noticed in that scuff panel picture my lower seat trim looks like boo-boo, but thats okay because I got all new seat trim and levers from the same guy I got the door panels from (theyre also the darker tan though)
Fanta
So far this weekend has mostly been sanding and getting things ready for primer (side skirts, hatch, fuel door, and mirrors).Aside from that I also shaved the lock from the fuel door and fixed the broken power antenna. Here are a few pictures from the weekends work. To replace the power antenna I took this round cover off: http://img528.imageshack.us/img528/4521/sdc11037.jpg pulled this plastic hoop out with a screwdriver: http://img812.imageshack.us/img812/4522/sdc11038.jpg Here is the part that breaks on these old power antennas: http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/3940/sdc11039i.jpg You also have to remove the old mast: http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/4339/sdc11040p.jpg http://img152.imageshack.us/img152/215/sdc11041f.jpg Bought this replacement at autozone for $19: I had to cut 5 inches off the plastic track because it was longer than the stock track, then I used a razor blade to taper the end so it would go in easier. http://img405.imageshack.us/img405/1236/sdc11042fs.jpg Here is the after pictures: http://img440.imageshack.us/img440/2497/sdc11043c.jpg http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/7224/sdc11045z.jpg I have formally submitted a request to the mods to put this into the FAQs

Frenchi934
So for the boost guage I wired the light into this green wire. It doesnt dim with the rest of the lights like I thought....but it comes on and off with the rest of the lights so ill be content with it... The green wire is on the drivers side most plug, in the righthand most location. http://img842.imageshack.us/img842/7226/sdc11099p.jpg http://img209.imageshack.us/img209/2066/sdc11101w.jpg I ran the black ground wire straight to the ground instead of splicing it into the system. http://img802.imageshack.us/img802/1822/sdc11102q.jpg Looks pretty good in the cluster. http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/1143/sdc11104m.jpg halfway done with bov install. http://img545.imageshack.us/img545/8784/sdc11103.jpg Edited December 21, 2010 by Frenchi934

Fanta
yes its uncrushed. Im going to test it first and then if i need to do the porting mod What porting mod? The reason why they call it crushed ( to hold more boost ) is because you literally put it in say, vice clamps and crush it...

BIGbCraig
What porting mod? The reason why they call it crushed ( to hold more boost ) is because you literally put it in say, vice clamps and crush it...http://www.thedodgegarage.com/turbo_bov_mod.html It's the non-redneck way of getting them to hold more boost.
