D_Venable
stopped by the machine shop where my motor is, I should be able to pick it up next week. So the motor should be done in a month.
D_Venable
picked up an aluminum jack that fits under the car, with a coupon for Harbor Freight for $60 http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P2260374.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P2260373.jpg Also fit up the white door (better shape, and was cheap) http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P2260368.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P2260371.jpg and this spot will grow in size soon, working itself onto the door more http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P2260372.jpg The large patch in that was a rust spot, with rust reformer sprayed on it, and I plan to do similar localized sharpie work around any spot I have to spray like that on the car, should be interesting when done. Hood will stay white, door will stay white, and I'm getting a certain busted up fiji airdam soon, I'll spraybomb in white, and clear/white ziptie it together for the time being

D_Venable
Robert, if I make it to Vegas, it'll probably be in this car, the Durban won't be fixed by then, and the airbags on it will take a while longer to complete. yeah, once I get my Durban from out of my parent's barn in Ohio, it shouldn't be too long before I have 2 cars with the MR2 conversion

D_Venable
OK, so $713 later I'm home with a .030 over block, a .010 under crank, and my wisecos mounted on the rods. http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P3020407.jpg ALSO, got bored of the Sharpie stuff already, and starting painting graphite, these panels still need a couple more coats to look good though. I cleaned, scuffed, cleaned, primed, then sprayed the color on this side, a panel at a time. so far so good though, I'm liking it, and I'll still do that stripe, but I'm gonna do it in white now, and paint the red on the mudflaps white to match, maybe even the mirrors, not sure on that last one yet though. http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P3020399.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P3020400.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P3020401.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P3020402.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P3020405.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P3020406.jpg

D_Venable
did you do anything to the sharpie to make sure it didnt bleed through? I hadn't done any sharpie on this side yet, but I'm spraying on sopme primer before I lay the color down anyway, so I'll be fine
D_Venable
Nice color, Glad you decided to take it easy on the fast and furious color stripe.... D_Venable
SO, I started painting the passenger side mudflaps, ran into some issues with the white rattlecan, I think I got a dud, oh well, I check them tomorrow. Pic shows with just the primer on them http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P3030408.jpg Also did a dusting coat over the side of the car, it helped a lot, but could use another dusting http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P3030410.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P3030411.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P3030413.jpg

D_Venable
Thanks guys, yeah, it's laying down pretty good. If I get home early enough to (still have good sunlight), I need to pull it out and really look and see where it needs touched up. But I'm so stoked to get this car done, motor is on the bench taunting me to be put together, the crank is .010 under on the rods and mains, so the machinist went ahead and order all the bearings, so I have those, just need the lower end gasket kit, and the timing kit with BSEK and the head I've got lined up (over size and stiff springs)and I can throw it together. Then on the outside, body-wise, I need to finish off the little side pieces for the hood vents, then get the airdam from Mario, interior can wait in all honesty, I'd be happy to drive around for a bit with seats and a dash, haha I've got 25mm spacers coming for the frontwheels, hopefully they work out well I did a small test spot after I took the above pics too, of a satin clear lacquer, and I REALLY like how it looks, so I'll be doing that over the graphite once I get it all laid down on the car.
