ok, new goal, motor in this weekend. I did get those wires extended (had to do it twice though) and got a few other things taken care of. now I just need an abs delete line, gonna swing by a Napa one of these days and grab a hard line I can use.

got the abs elim. line in, and have my shift knob started. Next step on the knob will be filling it with a orange tinted resin, and drilling and tapping the resin.

if all goes well, I could have the motor in today. few more brackets to put back in, and a couple more hoses, lines, and canisters to get in.

first pic shows my tubing bender from ACE hardware ($9) and the label off the brake line. The line has metric threads with a standard taper, threads perfectly into the master and the proportioning valve on the firewall.

Last is of the shift knob, used a 1/2 diamond hole saw ($10 kit of the two in the one pic at Harbor Freight)to cut the hole in the bottom, glass/tile bits from the hardware store just shatter the bottle when you get deep enough (broke 3 that way)

Awesome shift knob idea. I never thought you could drill glass without cracking it.

it took 5 tries, and 2 different style bits.

the glass/tile bits you can find about anywhere, and cost nearly $20 will crack a bottle (this is how I broke 3 of them).

Then yesterday I went to Harbor Freight and picked up these diamond hole saws. Instantly it was 1000x better, I cracked that one because I was still pressing forward too hard. once you get down towards the other side of the glass to break through, you have to apply little to no pressure at all, and it'll just pop right through. Takes about 30 seconds to a minute total with the diamond hole saw

MOTOR IS IN!!!

baked the fidanza, 225 degrees for 10 minutes was enough expand it enough to let it slid over the crank with ease. torqued those down, got Andrew's old ACT clutch installed, then dropped the motor in the car (with new pilot and TO bearings)

Car sits a TINY bit lower up front now, just enough to cause the tires to rub a bit more

Got all the intake side tacked together now, little trimming here and there then time to weld that side. Then mount up the turbo and make that side

rad hoses done, 3 1.75" 90° silicone bends (with the ends trimmed down some), and a 1.75" to 1.38" (35mm) silicone transition for the lower, with short pieces of pipe between them (one being an inline drain unit with a temp sensor in it). and two 1.5" 45° silicone bends plus a 6" radius mandrel bent 1.5" tube (bent it at work) for the upper

Are you going to put some king of bead on the metal pipes? I've seen radiator hoses like that blow themselves off. Riding in my buddies V8 Corvair on the interstate; there was a boosh sound and the whole car filled with this sweet tasting vapor, it was really funny :)

all the couplers I have on the car are from Hose Techniques. The small ones for the coolant pipes are their NX500 series ones (higher temp ratings). I shopped their clearance/outlet section on their site and got some greats deals on most of these.

I've also got t-bolts from hose techniques as well for all of them.

OH, and I've decided to not paint the blue coupler, I don't honestly care that much, lol
