BradD
Hey all, new around here but have had a DSM or Starquest since around '99. Some of you might know me on some other forums as TSiSS350. Found my way here and thought I might share some pics of my current Starion driver/project. Its an '84 with 80k original miles that I purchased for a really great price from the original owner. Dirty in the pics but in the process of being cleaned up now. Car had a new motor put in at 79k so there is about 1k on the new motor. The original owner went in for a head gasket to the dealer here in Ma and they "forgot" to add coolant after doing the work. Needless to say he did not make it home and the dealer owed him a repair. They put the motor in in '04, then he bought a new Mustang and parked the Starion kind of forgeting about it for almost five years. Decided he would rather see it driven than parked so put it up for sale. Advantage me Here it is in all its dirty five years of grime beauty. Love the Enkie 90 wheels that he installed back in the late 80's, just wish he had kept the originals! Thanks to my friend Andrew for most of these pics....The day I picked it up. First step... remove the nose mask!http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2774/4110968796_eeef08b104_b.jpg and what does it reveal.. a big old dent and broken spolier. Should have guessed!http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2543/4110541223_8f71123df0_b.jpghttp://farm3.static.flickr.com/2531/4111662456_475f8eeec8_b.jpg interior? ...DIRTY! Looks much better now, cleaned up good and the stains all came out of the carpet. Pics this weekend..http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2487/4111306642_911e6324a0_b.jpg VELNAS? Never seen one before, but it works and I like it...http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2771/4110543961_9c3c050e4b_b.jpg Some surface rust on the passengers door, looks like it swung open into something will spray some primer on it to stop it from advancing for now. Eventualy will probably do a whole respray but have a few things to take car of first and I want to get the decals copied so I can replicate the oe look..http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2486/4111304356_94ce5de919_b.jpg Should have some freshly cleaned pics up this weekend when I do the plugs and wires. Changed all the fluids, filters and an OEM PCV valve. Redline MT90 LSD fluid in the rear diff and Syncromesh in the trans. Much more to come and just for kicks here is a pic of my '87 Conquest TSi that I sold last year to help with the down payment on my house....http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i136/TSiSS350/Quest.jpg Edited January 7, 2010 by BradD

Killtodie
yeah man, car looks awesome! carpet needs a good wash, i recommand renting a rug doctor and using Oxyclean and simple green, those two work the best
BradD
Hmmm, rug doctor. I will have to look into that. I used some blue coral carpet cleaner I got at the local parts store and it worked pretty good. The main carpet is pretty clean but the mats are still stained. Thanks for the positive comments all! BradD
So, spent Sunday detailing the Starion. Actually came out pretty good!! The wheels cleaned up amazing with so elbow grease and wheel cleaning acid. They still need a good polish and I am prob going to re-paint the centers. The outside of the car is more presentable now and the interior is damn near new! Thanks to my good friend Andrew for the photos once again!! http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3649/4552764665_18f7c4fbac_b.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3638/4552759483_a8ba952521_b.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3200/4552765557_4776100070_b.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3279/4552754645_f1c0e701df_b.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4013/4552772919_a3219556eb_b.jpg While Drew was shooting the car I snuck a couple of pics in with my cell of him doing his thing..... http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3531/4553505964_09f56e7f17_o.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3374/4553505958_9761acd27a.jpg

MikeMeyerhoff
Nice car. Don't fret too much about the original rims, the 84 sport rims were ugly and heavy and the base rims were better looking but only 14"... so you enkies are a BIG BIG improvement. The original decals for your 84 might still be available from the dealer. Its a little hard to tell exactly which decal is which in the parts manual, but I'm betting you can get them. BradD
Great Work!!! I see now there are a few of us in MA area (about 4 if not mistaken). We should meet some day +1 on the meet. Maybe we can plan a date mid july? Sure, taking the Starion down to N.C. for a Dragon run in the beginning of July, be back on the 11th, then the next weekend is New England Forest Rally in Maine. So the week after that maybe? Would be cool to get together shoot some pics and what not. Where are you guys from?

BradD
wow u drove in this stuff today When the boss says "go" I guess you have to. Not that as an insurance appraiser anybody would actually drive their cars in to be seen anyway and I was alone in my office most of the day! BradD
Well over the past winter this happened......http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6139/5998709924_e92e514d88_z.jpg http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6130/5998172269_03b515199f_z.jpg Totally not my fault and was paid by the other parties insurance to repair. I asked the appraiser who came to look at it if he would kindly not write it off and just write up to what ever the value was he could so as to avoid totaling it and I would decide what to do later. Thankfully he did! Being as it was winter and I needed a car pretty quick I picked up this '87 Audi 4000. http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6135/5998721762_7bc7c4c7e7_b.jpg I have been driving that since march and while I love it, I miss my ES!! So I am looking for the front sheet metal for the Starion. Parts I need..... LT FenderHeader PanelLT HeadlampBumper AssySpoiler The fender is what I need the most, I can NOT find a decent flat side fender in the North East and I need that on the car when I send it to the frame shop to straighten the Lt fender rail. I think that the rest of the parts besides the spoiler are the same for a Flat car or Widebody. Edited August 1, 2011 by BradD
