Hey everyone. After lurking around for a while now I finally decided to start posting :D Here's a couple of pictures of my SQ.

It was running for a while, but now the fuel pump is dead. Almost got all the parts I need, so it shouldn't be long before it's running again.

I looked at one just like that in Phoenix a couple years ago that was for sale, but ehre was no answer at the door and I was on vacation. My wife wanted to buy it drive it home! white is by far my favorite color on the 85.5s, love the black door guards contrast.

cool car man!

Got some more pictures of the car. Feeling more optimistic now that it's running more steadily.

Had some better pictures of the engine bay, but the camera saves the pictures onto floppy disks and I keep getting read errors on those pictures.

List of things done to it (that I can remember at the moment):

Engine rebuild, replaced crankshaft, piston rods, ARP rod bolts

Walbro 255lph fuel pump, new filters, gas tank flushed, Mookeeh FPR

New three core radiator, water pump, thermostat

New alternator

New brake master cylinder

New vacuum advance

Replaced the exhaust manifold

MSD Blaster 2 coil w/ new wires (OEM)

New injector clips

HKS blow off valve

2.5" Downpipe w/ new 02 sensor

TEP fan relay (want to remove that and try a different route... :character0285:)

The car already had a ported & polished Marnal head w/ ARP head studs, OVCP (though it's not a perfect fit), K&N air filter, possibly a 1g or 2g MAS (not sure, don't know how to tell if it is or not), and steel braided brake lines. Also, I took the circumference of the exhaust before it reached the muffler and got the diameter which was 2.42" or something close to that; is that stock?

I just ordered a TB rebuild kit and a Felpro TB base gasket.

Things it needs:

I'm planning on buying new temperature sensors next.

Going to order a TPS sensor soon as well.

The turbo has excessive shaftplay, so either a turbo rebuild kit or bigger turbo (preferably a direct bolt on).

Pulley/tensioner.

Story behind it:

My brothers bought me the car when I was 14. Previous to that, apparently some guy was driving down from Tucson (about an hour away from here) and was running it with too little oil. When the mechanic told him how much he'd charge to fix the car, the guy decided to just sell it. I'd see the car every morning on my way to school and it always seemed to catch my attention even before I knew my brothers were planning to buy it. The mechanic was going to part it out, but luckily we got to it just in time. $400 for the car and another $400 (I think) for set of wheels. The car sat in our driveway for four years until my Senior year of high school when I needed to do a Senior Exhibition Project (required in order to graduate; consisted of a report, at least 25 hours of service with a portfolio of all the work done, and a final presentation in front of three judges who also graded your portfolio) and I decided to rebuild the car as part of the project and over a year later here we are now :)

Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiikkkkkkkkkk.

I just picked up an 85.5 juuuust like that, all original been sitting since 95. Been rear ended, and is missing a head... but will be saved!!

How's yours run?? Pretty fast, or still getting it worked out??

Yeah, I saw yours. Great to see another 85.5 being brought back.

Mine still needs a couple things worked out, but last time it was on, it was running nicely. Drove it around the block twice and it didn't act up. Hopefully we'll be doing the throttle body rebuild this weekend.

Small update.

Finally finished rebuilding the throttle body and got it mounted Saturday the weekend before and replaced all the screws with hex-head screws and tested/cleaned the injectors. Wirebrushed the intake and TB as best I could (looks a lot better than before :D). Also got a EGR block-off plate from BOHO (thanks again). Tomorrow, we're gonna put the vacuum lines back on (leaving only the heater). Also took out the A/C and electric radiator fans. I got a flex-fan ( http://www.flex-a-lite.com/auto/html/7-blade-flex.html ). Just waiting for the fan shroud to get here so I can put it all in. I also ordered a mechanical boost gauge, oil pressure, water temp., and digital a/f gauge that doubles as a volt meter, from ProSport.

I'm hoping that by the time everything is done, my only worry will be all the black widows that have taken home under my car :(

On a side note. My brother is telling me I can have our father's truck, a Ford Ranchero, if I want, so I can have something more reliable. It has a 302 V8 that has around 40k on it. Hopefully, if I do decide to get it, I'll have it looking as nice, if not better, than:

Well, she's finally up and running. I purchased another 12A for it and rebuilt it, but it still had a little bit of shaft play. When we were putting the compressor housing on it we noticed a small crack where the big circlip goes, and soon, the crack went almost around the whole thing. So, we just used the center cartridge from my original turbo, got it really clean, and swapped the new internals into it. Yes, we made sure to mark the wheels to keep it balanced. This time, there was absolutely no shaft play whatsoever. Should have just rebuilt my original instead of trying to rebuild another one, but oh well, it wasn't a complete loss since the compressor housing off the new one was in better condition than my original one (mine was leaking oil badly and the inside of the housing was badly coked with oil).

We also made our own hard pipe that goes around the air canister and relocated the blow off valve to be where the cruise control was. Still have some spare pipe bends that can be used to make a new ovcp, but that's for another day.

And now the temp stays below half with the flex fan :party0035: It's great not having to constantly be worrying about the temp, now :P

We all took turns driving it around. I was surprised about how much attention it got in the short time it was out

Bad news (but not surprising), though. The Walbro 255 is making a lot of noise that was getting progressively worse.... but aside from that and just a few more little things that need adjustment/replacing. It's doing good  Really, the pump is all that's keeping me from taking it out for a drive right now <_<

(I should probably make a thread in the Restoration section instead of here....)
