86FlatValour
Well, can't sell the Starion for what I want. I'm tired of dealing with the 54B. I've got a couple ideas: 2JZ1JZ7M4G63/642.4L turbo 2JZ is expensive and i already want one in the Max. So no.1JZ same as above for pricing7M pretty cheap fro complete drivetrain butt can not find swap info?4G63/64 (2.4L/2.3L/2.1L and DOHC Turbo). Still scared of reliability.2.4L reliable fairly quick stock. I want to 2.4L it as i can get and engine from a 90's Stratus for like $100 from the Junkyard or PT cruiser. Install my SRT Turbofold and run wastegate and get 230hp. I came across a post about using a 2.5L bellhousing from a early/mid 90's dakota and a W58 will bolt up. Is this true? Ever been done? Also about motor mounts from 2.5L dakota may work in Starion with minor modding. Can anyone give insight? I'm looking more reliable Turbo stockish to get car running. lionbull
What is wrong with the reliabilty of the 4g motors? My tuner actually told me they are hard to blow LOL
TexasQuest
4g63/64 all the way man. Best bang for the buck by far. That dodge motor is gonna be more work to fit than even a jz motor.
86FlatValour
Just afraid of crank walk. Been in a family of mitsubishi/mopar lovets with lots of talons and friends and they never lasted to well. Granted that could be do to maintenance. But i've had the best luck with with a 2.4L that i personally beat on a lot. Ok soo what would be most reliable configuration? 2.4L/2.3L/2.1L
Lizzord30
Maybe Volvo inline 6 TT stock with a big single turbo? lol of course not cheap.....
86FlatValour
I have always wanted to build a 2.1L balanced for 11,000rpm. Figured it'd make for a nasty twin turbo setup and very fun for drifting. 3rd gear? Hold let me use 2nd @ 7k.
86FlatValour
Also not being cheap as i am trying to build something cheap yet easily ridiculous. 2/JZ's and 7M's aren't all that easy. 4g63/64's are all over with 2.4L Chrysler's. FijiPhil
From what I understand, 7mgte is about as technically advanced as our motors If I was going to do a swap, Id want something worthwhile. Not trying to poo poo your engine swap idea, but Id think it might be a lot easier (and less expensive) to get your G54B running well rather than swap in a new motor and deal with all the other things that come with it. I dont think ive ever seen the 2.4 done. That would be cool. But then again, if I was swapping, Id be shooting for a lot more than 230 hp
86FlatValour
Ive had 6 G54B's only one was reliable. Thats my mighty max (turboed with an 88') Just about had it with the 2.6L. Not interested in repairing and breaking again. I wasn't sure on the 7m i heard they had issues too. Thats also why i want a 2.4l and im looking tp get it running quick with a turbo and itd be easy later after its running to put srt internals. 86FlatValour
Well I can only find 2.1 setups using 7bolt cranks (stupid) unless someone knows where to find a 156mm rod for a 6bolt? EDIT: I think I'll go just a stockish 2.4L but besides RWD would wideblocks of come in a FWD setup at all? TexasQuest
Simple: Grab a 4G64 wideblock from a mighty max or ram 50. Get a twin cam head from a 4g63. Then either modify the stock intake or get a rwd sheetmetal intake.
86FlatValour
I know it's simple just finding a 4G64 from a max may be a bit difficult. My local JY rarely has one. But I'll Harry's in Hazelton
