flatty86
I want to change my exhaust from the turbo back 3' with no cats or Mufflers. The shop wants t charge me $170.00. Is that a deal or ripp off? Also can I go 3" with the flatty current turbo or would that be too big?

scott87star
Yeah, that's a good price. There is no such thing as too big for a turbo, no exhaust at all would be ideal. That being said, if you like quiet then our cars with a 2.5" exhaust are earilly quiet, even without a muffler. flatty86
ok cool.....and HP wise? what do you think i would gain? Edited January 14, 2013 by flatty86
mr-starion
Youll actually realise better flow my factory crappy boost guage was showing 9 psi instead of 7 when i changed mine. You feel the turbo spool abit quicker so i guess on a stock car 5 to 10 hp ish
flatty86
YUes right now my crappy one is showing under 7 psi....
Blue
Not to be THAT guy, but... uh...How is the car running currently? Up to date on all maintenance? No issues when running? You should never mod a car before it runs 110% stock. I know from experience.
flatty86
Yes the car runs great now after months of working on it. I went all through the car, The problem is this. The previous owner had the car sitting up for years, and the exhaust and mufflers are all rusted out. So I figured since I was changing out the exhaust anyway I might as well go the 3’. The boost in the car is also fine... just not sure why the gauge is showing under 7. when I first got the car the gauge wasn’t working at all. I actually drove it to work today.. 50 miles 1 way and it runs great.. Just have suspention noise, which i think its from sitting up all these years. I didnt want to make the mistake like some of my other friends. I'm taking my time. Edited January 14, 2013 by flatty86

Used the same style and brand muffler, just up'ed everything to 3". fwiw.
TexasQuest
That's very cheap. Most "bolt-on" kits are around $300.
flatty86
I was not going to use any mufflers. But do you think I should?
TexasQuest
I don't have a muffler on mine. At first it was loud to me but after awhile I got used to it. It's not too rediculously loud imo.
flatty86
can I use something like this??? if it sounds like shyt can always gut the muffler and run a straight pipe through it. TexasQuest
Sure. Most people go with the traditional fart-can look anyway.
