importwarrior
well I still have a crank case pressure problem. it is blowing like a old school locomotive steam engine. Can a cracked head cause this problem? PCV is working properly.car runs great. I need to do a compression test. i unhooked the crank case vent hose.i started the car.i plugged the crank case vent hose with my finger for a few seconds.when i released the pressure it exhaled like old faithful. concerned and don't know what else to test. scott87star
If the PCV was working properly you wouldn't have any crankcase pressure at idle. Do you have a vacuum gauge? If so check manifold vacuum at idle.
importwarrior
Around 16 to 18 hz at idle. when the pcv hose was disconnected and the crank vent hose was disconnectedAt the same time, I started the car and they had a great amount of pressure from both. Amonje123
I would run a compression test. Last time I had pressure coming from my pcv and breather hose, it was a cracked piston. Just a thought.
markhansenconquest
sounds like a cracked ring.............
scott87star
OK, so the PCV is working in vacuum mode and you get 16-18 inches of vacuum at idle? That's a little high, I'd do the compression test and follow it up with a leakdown test.
importwarrior
I will do a compression test but No way to do a leak down. Might have to find a friend that can help. I'm leading towards head gasket.
