gabea101
This started getting hot when I was recharging my air conditioner. I seen the plastic smoking a little so I unplugged it. Everything so far in the car still works. Can someone tell me what this controls and why it got hot? Also what does the blue/red wire control and where does it go to? BuGG
Tough to tell because your so zoomed in but it looks like the A/C fan relay. Take another picture farther out.
scott87star
Looks like the condenser fan motor relay, it got hot because its got corroded connectors. Corrosion = resistance = heat when passing electricity. Clean and grease them with dialectric grease.

Reminds me of some of the connectors that were on my red 86 years back, couldnt get down the street without something breaking
importwarrior
dont just do one. Clean them all!!!!!!!also check the fan spins freely and doesnot feel like gravel is rolling around in theAC fan motor. get your wife or girlfriends emery Board and clean the contacts.get some die electric grease and lube up the contacts. the type below can be cut to size and fit in to tight places and will do a good job. http://www.mountainside-medical.com/product_images/r/382/emery_boards1__27235_zoom.jpg Edited May 27, 2013 by importwarrior

importwarrior
yup but keep an eye on it at first.believe me you dont want to melt wires.all it takes is one bad wire. i melted the AC fanwire. same one your talking about. If you cut nspliced any wires double check them. i cut andsoldered a wire and it shorted to ground somewhereand this is what happened. http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q299/I-W/Electrical/Harnes_Meltdown_3_SM.jpg That is one melted solid clump of WIRES in below pic. http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q299/I-W/Electrical/Harnes_Meltdown.jpg The Wire below is or better yet was the AC fan radiator wire. http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q299/I-W/Electrical/Harnes_Meltdown_2.jpg Edited May 27, 2013 by importwarrior

tsiconquest88
You should really try getting a harness lol. That connector is shot anyway. At least so you have good leads/connectors from a harness to solder in place of your cruddy ones. Dont forget shrink wrap. Screw electrical tape.
