D50 and Quest steering box
By Turbo Cary,
I know people use the truck steering box to convert to manual steering but have to modify the column to make it work. Is it possible to just take the quest gear box apart, remove the shaft that connects to the column and install it in a manual gear box? That way the column doesnt need to be modified. Or are the internals completly different? Here is an exploded view of a MM gearbox. Part number 10 is the shaft I am talking about interchanging. http://www.mitsubishipartswarehouse.com/media

My thought is to strip the cloth, use fiberglass to reinforce and make a mold from it. That way if I ever need to I could make a new one. I also want to do the same with my center console and radio section. I could make it one peice where the radio is, so it could be cut however fit or left open with factory style center trim. An
