88 MAS on an 86

Is it possible to use a square plug 88 MAS in place of a round plug MAS on a 86? This car I've been working on for some time now. And now that I'm 10 hours away, I'd still tring to get it back on the road. I think the MAS has dead on it, and I'm haveing a dawg of a time trying to find a MAS for it. I have a few spare 88 square plug MAS laying around. And I know where a 1g MAS is. The owner has asked me about using a GM MAS, like a picture he saw on the boards. I've never used a GM MAS but

MR2 Strut Question

Currently the car is on ST lowering springs with OEM insets that are starting to get bouncy. Ive searched a ton and read the DIYs over and over so I know what to do before I do it. My question is do I need the extra set of struts for the threaded portion? I was thinking I would cut the threaded portion out, add tubing to fill in the gap, and re use/weld back in the treaded portion of my front strut housings. Am I way off here or not understanding the mod? Just asking because I havent looked
TDC QUESTION

TURNED OVER CRANK TILL TDC. DOWEL PIN ON CAM GEAR IS SLIGHTY TO THE LEFT OF TOP DEAD CENTER AND THE CRANK PULL MARK IS LINED UP -10 DEGREES BEFORE TDC TRYING TO REPLACE MY CHAIN IS THIS CORRECT? OR SHOULD THE CRANK PULLY BE RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE AT 0? IS -10 DEGREES BTDC OKAY?
