Test speedometer?

So my speedometer is not working. Can I just unscrew it from the trans and clip it down in my drill and spin the drill to test? Anything else to test? Any thing else comon cause them not to work? Did I just not plug it in, or did I cut something in the dash cluster when hacking cluster for custom gages? I though it was just cable driven though?

I just got a set of front pads for my 83 (4 lug tiny itty bitty rotors) and there is no way i can compress the caliper any more but it will not go over the pads. The rotor is pretty new looking and on the high end of the usable spec. I found another topic where it was mentioned just wondering why I have to take my brake pads to a belt sander to make them fit. Especially since I think they are organic pads... Asbestos. Pads say Duralast Gold on the back of them. f*cking autozone... to the
Vaccuum pump/line question

I noticed on the vacuum line setup that there are two check valves in the passenger corner. One separates the engine rom the cruise and vacuum pump. The other separates the engine from the vacuum canister and the interior HVAC controls. Thus is it true that the vacuum pump is only for the cruise control? If so then that means that the vacuum canister is only there to hold additional vacuum for the HVAC controls? So what happens if you are in boost for a long period of time, would the HVAC
