In-cabin fuel pump?

Would this be a bad idea? It's a hypothetical question. Everyone seems to hate changing their fuel pump after 100-200K miles it goes bad, so why hasn't anyone thought about installing one in the trunk, with grommets for the in and out fuel lines? Food for thought.

Man I'm tired of fixing her car. I don't think this one was her fault but boy is it dead. There is a loud banging sound coming from the engine. It barely runs. Water in the fresh oil. And it blew off the valve cover breather hose and sprayed the engine bay with oil mist. It's not good. I'm guessing combustion pressure is getting into the crankcase from a broken piston. So her 94 escort needs and engine, transmission (5th gear doesn't work), tires, struts.............. it may be time to
