I need a little help with the installation of front struts on a 1988 Starion

This is the strut assembly.  The "canister" is the big tube, the "big nut" is the big nut on the top of the canister and the gas shock is ... the gas shock.  "The original "big nut" has a ruber ring that holds the rod in and makes it so the rod doesnt rub.

I ran out to get a battery for the camera this morning.  Here are the pics!  I ordered my heat shield from Summit.  They had 4 different brands so I emailed their sales people to see which they recommended for our application.  The response I received is below the link to the pics.  The photo album has two pages and the pics of the painted hood installed are on page 2.

Well I am still in the process of stripping the undercarraige of my car.   So far I used an angle grinder with various steel brushes and fiberglass wheels to strip most of the undercoating off of the unibody.   But I still have many tight spots that I can't get the angle grinder to, so I bought a sandblaster kit.  ($50 jobber at sears).   Well it has been over 90 degrees and around 100% humidity all week which makes blasting a pain due to moisture in the tank and lines.  First I bought a moistur
