  1. Welp, it's finally happened... the site's gone to hell...
  2. A lot depends on if your 4 drain holes are clogged up or not. The inner seal is what actually seals the glass and protects the interior. But, if those drain holes are clogged up, then the water will puddle up, and the flow into the interior.
  3. LOL, yeah Jimmy, that thing lights up the rear tires if you look at it funny. Shelby letting my drive that thing was a blast.
  4. My Dad, Brother and I all chipped in and got my Mom a day at the spa... massage, facial, manicure, pedicure, the works. After giving her that present, I spend all evening detailing my Mom's car. I actually had no intentions of doing that. I went out into my parent's garage to smoke, and happened to notice about a 18 inch long scratch down the drivers side of her car... VERY noticable. So, I go inside and ask my Dad about it. He had no idea where it came from. About that time, my brother happened to go outside and said "oh, I accidently scraped the car against my truck". So, I was like, ok whatever... "hey Mom, I'm stealing your car for the evening and taking it over to my place to clean it up." SO... my Mom's other Mother's Day present was me getting that huge tail scratch out of her car without a) her finding out, and her killing my brother.
  5. Check your rear diff mounts, in reverse, the rear diff raises up from the torque of the motor, and it pops a halfshaft out.
  6. Why go thru the trouble of having one made? Mitsubishi still sells them... and they're pretty cheap.
  7. I know there are a few others here that are interested in photography, and I came across a few pictures of my bike that I figured y'all might like. The pictures taken at the beach are from when the bike was pretty new... maybe a month old. The foggy pictures were taken a few months ago. For those that ride, it's a 2008 Honda CBR600RR. I bought it brand new Jan 13th of 2008, and it's currently sitting at 22,2xx miles. Gotta love year 'round riding here in Florida. http://img513.imageshack.us/img513/1928/jaxbeachnew15.jpg http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/3512/jaxbeachnew07.jpg http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/4285/jaxbeach01.jpg http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/9309/condonight02.jpg http://img530.imageshack.us/img530/6108/unffog06.jpg http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/4509/unffog03.jpg http://img513.imageshack.us/img513/2602/unffog09.jpg
  8. I've found that most aftermarket ones are a slightly different length than the OEM Mitsu one.
  9. Mitsubishi still sells them. http://www.mitsubishiparts.com
  10. How on earth did you talk your wife into that one?
  11. It's best to replace the speedo cable sheeth as well. When the cable breaks, it chews up the inside. Even if you think you remove all of the junk, you haven't. When your speedo cable breaks again, notice it will break in the same spot.
  12. Most Q4 issues are maintance related, yet you refer to them as junk... I'm just doing the same. And really... out of ALL the imports you've seen, you haven't seen a sagging headliner? Maybe you should look a bit harder, trust me, they're around, and not in any small numbers. I'm really not here to defend GM... even though I've owned quite a few. But, I've owned a few of just about everything. And, if I haven't owned it, I've had quite a bit of first hand experience with it from either friends owning them, or customers having them. The last GM I've owned is a 2003 Blazer ZR2. My ex still has the truck, we had it since new. 70,000+ miles... we talked about it last night, and it still hasn't had a hiccup. I get it, you've had a rough week or so, and on top of it your truck has died... but really, does every single post you make have to be whining about how something isn't up to some insane standard? ALL cars are going to break at some point in time. It's a machine, with production tolerances. Every build isn't going to be perfect. I had a '91 Beretta GTZ with the HO Q4... 200k+ miles without ever being cracked open, and I had a customer with a 95ish BMW 325iS that I'm pretty sure payed my Boss' kid's way thru college.
  13. I like the idea of Dex-Cool (or any extended life coolant). It makes me money. The unfortunate thing about any of those coolants that advertise a 100,000 service interval, is usually something else in the cooling system fails before it hits 100,000 miles. The problem with the Vortec V6/V8 is that the rear coolant passages clog the hell up, causing a hot spot issue in that part of the block, that's what ends up blowing the gasket. I've always told my customers to follow a "normal" coolant flush schedule, rather than the "extended service" schedule. Doing that, even when sticking with dex-cool, and the cooling system is much better off. I actually still use Dex-cool in my Mom's 02 Monte Carlo SS, but it does get flushed regularly. Speaking of the 3800... I do like how GM actually stocks the upper intake manifold because of the high failure rate.
  14. I can name just as many "junk" issues with just about any car make. They all have their issues. What about my friend's brand new Saab that spent more time at the dealer's garage than his own. As far as I know, his new jeep has only been in the shop when it got rear ended. GM is FAR from the only car maker with paint issues from that era. During that time period, all car makers were forced to change their painting processes because of environmental concerns. Hell, my Audi looked great from a distance of 10 feet, but if you looked close at the paint the entire clear coat was spiderwebbed. That isn't an isolated incident, and is a known issue, especially with the grey Audi's. Actually, as well built as Audi's are, most of them have headliner issues as well. A headliner is carpet over cardboard... it's not like GM is the only people building them like that, ya know. Most GM products got the CD player optional within the 90-91 model range... not a world of difference from your Saab getting one in 89. As for the Q4, most of the issues with the Quad can be brought back to the same issues with our cars... POOR OWNER MAINTANCE. In 1989, name one other 4cyl, N/A engine that made 190hp... In that era, the only other n/a 4cyl I can think of is the M3's 4cyl. As much as you love Mercedes, I can't even count how many have been brought to me with transmission shift quality issues... specifically very harsh shifts from 1st to 2nd. Why don't you become a tech for a couple years? You'll soon find out they're all crap in one way or another, and it doesn't matter what side of the pond they come from. Atleast when your truck dying will be a cheap and easy fix. (Google it, them dying on you like you describe is a common problem, with a pretty easy fix) On an import, usually the fix has a comma in the price.
  15. Simple, with the A/C off, you will not be able to tell a difference if it is there or if it isn't. A/C on, yes you'll notice a bit of extra drag on the motor... but for one, it is nothing horrible, if you're in a situation that calls for that much power, there is always the "off" button. How often are you really at 100% throttle and full boost?
  16. That's a door panel for a car without automatic seat belts. The seatbelt is supposed to route through there to the seatbelt recoil. It appears that someone has routed your seatbelt wrong. There is supposed to be a plastic piece that helps to guide the seatbelt. I'll see if I can find a picture of one of my 86 doorpanels.
  17. Dodge already put the V10 in there. It fits fine, considering the V10 was designed to fit in the Rams to begin with.
  18. start flippin' those suckers until it appears to be working right.
  19. Use a block of wood to distribute the force of the jack on the oil pan... and yes, the only way you'll get that sucker out is to jack that end of the motor up. You have to crack it up pretty high to get access to easily change the belt. Once you jack up the motor, the timing belt is actually pretty easy, you've got a lot more room than you think.
  20. In the future, start posting in the correct forum. On top of that, learn to read the FAQ, and USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION. This topic has been brought up a bunch of times, and has been covered step by step. If you'd take two seconds to do that, you wouldn't have to be in such a big rush to post in the wrong forum.
  21. When you told me where your truck was, I was waiting for a post like this. lol
  22. Keep in mind that on sunroof cars, the drain for the sunroof empties at the bottom of those vents, so you'll have to modify where it drains at when closing up the pillar vents.
  23. OEM, a lot of cars come with sealed (non-serviceable) joints. You can tell if it's ever been replaced, because unless it was an OEM replacement, pretty much every replacement part I've seen comes with a grease fitting.
