  1. My exhaust stock manifold is cracked and the turbo has a small amount of end play. 63k miles, will get some slight modifications at a later date. My turbo knowledge is limited and I would like some advice. Would you replace the manifold with a t3/t4 maniflod and turbo or replace it with stock equipment. I would like some more power but do not want to get into the fuel system and bottom end issues. Is t3/t4 a good way to proceed? Recommendations?
  2. I have had this happen before, I ended up driving a screw driver through it and cranking it off. Rather messy but it worked.
  3. I am an engineer and believe that the teeth would be hardened. perhaps even carbed and hardened. Meaning soft core and tuff surface. If you have access to a rockwell tester you will have your answer as to what rockwell the stockers are. Second does your design have a pilot diameter. the screws will not hold the center relationship between the shaft pilot and the gear pitch diameter. If you have sketches or drawings I would be happy to review then and I also have a rockwell tester.
  4. that would be great. next time I post I will get the year right. it's an 87.... maybe my name will remind me...... let me know...
  5. Just as it says... I am looking for some used motor and tranny mounts. I only ask that they be unbent and in one piece. I want to make billet aluminum mounts and need a good pattern. I am not sure if they are all alike and prefer they come from an 88.
  6. Thanks, We all like different things. Why FWD? My son and I Like the styling of the del sol. The taga top is a lot of fun. The Honda engine is very reliable. The aftermaket support is good (parts). Parts are inexpensive. FWD was not a consideration but more of an engineering oppertunity. Like someone pointed out good luck getting 300HP to connect. Some have figured it out and are running some very good times. The Conquest is something I fell into. You know right place, right time. I am a little conserned about putting a bunch of cash into this car. It has some problems. The head is simple replace it without the jet valves. Finding part appears to be an issue also, not many left or is there much aftermaket support. With that said (and probably pissed a bunch of you off) I like the car it is fun to drive. I will get around the part issue. I really like the styling. There were not many of them made. When I have drove it people are looking at it and wondering what it is. and the biggest reason I like it is..... 4 cylinder with torque and RWD....... No that B18C is not going into a Conquest.....
  7. I have to agree that rear wheel is better in a sports situation. A modified V8 would own me a 2.6 doubt it...
  8. That looks nice! I use a die grinder with a tear drop carbide cutter. works well if the air compressor can keep up. I fixed that with a new air compressor. Got a question tho. Looks like you removed the web from the head flange. Why did you do that? Also I read somewhere on this board that is isn't a good idea to heat wrap the exhaust manifold. I have a good inexpensive coating company that is local, so I am considering ceramic coating it. I am not sure why the no wrap recomendation. It is a good idea to limit or reduce the heat under the hood. Could it be that it could cause cracking?
  9. Thanks, There is nothing "rice" about this car. Or The Conquest either. However both were made in Japan. I take that back Some that do not know the advantages of a carbon fiber intake manifold might think rice. That del sol will run past any Conquest because of the weight advantage. Not to mention the HP. I love both cars and have not read about many High HP Conquests. Yes stout is a good word. The bottom end will take 70 PSI but will never see it. the top end will take 10,000 rpm and will be limited to 9,000. It rest of the suspension is powder coated and poly bushings. Rims weigh about 12 lbs. Converted to 4 wheel disk. Everything we could get to was removed and restored. The underside and inner panels where por'd. It will look stck untill you open the hood. No rice, ice or flash. All go.... This car will be a best of show quality.
  10. Starting some crap...... So what is wrong with Honda? My son and I own one and it is an Awesome car, even if it is not finished. http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/7/web/523000-523999/523184_42_full.jpg View of rollerwave pistons http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/7/web/523000-523999/523184_50_full.jpg Almost completed engine http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/7/web/523000-523999/523184_45_full.jpg The custom fuel pick up to feed that thing. We are expecting 500 plus HP depending on boost. It is a swap but not for the Conquest, so does this mean I am an outcast and to be banded now
  11. interested in the tail light. Cost with shipping to 48045.... Thanks.
  12. how much are you asking and shipping to 48045?
  13. Thanks for those links. I like the idea with the switch and light. Was working on her again last night. Had decided to remove the turbo and exhaust manifold. The manifold is a real work of art, not to mention it is cracked. It looks like there was an exhaust leak at the back cylinder. There are carbon deposits on the joint faces of the head and manifold. Took a look at the turbo. The shaft has end play. My guess is about .005. Tonigh I will use a feeler gauge and measure it. It is still clearing the housing but damn I was not expecting this! Not on such a low milage car. Since the Turbo is almost kaput and the manifold is trash. Makes me wonder if the head is also cracked. Can I find the crack without removing the head? I read that it cracks between the jet valve and valve guide. If my memory serves me correct. So, the least expensive way to get her on the road with having a reliable repair...... Aftermarket manifold and rebuilt the tubo or do it right and get a new manifold and turbo. I do not know turbos and could use some recomendations here. The after maket manifolds I lokked at are a little pricey but at least they have addressed getting the primaries closer to the same length. Hmmmm..... What to do...
  14. I discovered last night that the valves are not mechanically adjustable they are auto adjust... The jet valve must be warm to adjust. Thats wierd... I cannot find the professor's write up on wiring both fans to turn on. But a simple thought occured to me. Each thermosensor that turns each fan on is a different temp. So just replace the 212 degree on with a 191 degree one. This would allow the 2 circuits to opperate independently like designed but increase the cooling. Thats for the reply on the exhaust. I am considering going with a 3" custome. I know a few people that run in the right circles to get a great job at a fair price. Car shops are a dime a dozen in the motor city. I crawled under it last night and took a good look for rust. There is some developing as well as a lot of oil. Guess it is time to sand blast the bottom and por 15 it. We did it on the del sol. PITA but the sesults were worth it. Por has a top coat too. That will prevent fading. This job will be a little more complicated. I will not strip everything out this time. So Taping off and being careful will be important. Also decided that I am going to sent the turbo heat shields and the valve cover out for ceramic coating. Keep the ideas coming I appreciate it.....
