  1. Thanks for the info Indiana. I will look into another model magna intake as it just seems easier. As far as the thermostat relocation goes, i wasn't going to bother and run a sigma thermostat housing and make a long piece of pipe up. I just said that as i know most guys on here would have probably told me to do it, and to save people the effort of posting for no reason. I figured my exhaust manifold would be warped, but i can machine and relieve it no probs. Tim. I have a wideblock 4g63 starion motor, converted to a twincam using vr4/1g parts. I wish i had a twincam head for my 2.6 lol.
  2. I know you said that you have checked your injector clips, but i had the exact same issue and it turned out to be the wiring going into the clip. I tried the usual unclip and spray contact cleaner on them and give them a good clean, but it didn't work. I found it was the injector clip closest to the strut tower that gave me trouble. The car would not start and if it did it would fall over at around 3k or over 1/4 throttle. A mate of mine told me as a test to try using wd40 inside the clip or use some electrical contact grease and it worked We have since replaced the wiring and clip and have had no more issues. My guess is that even though it is making contact, it's just not quite enough. Might just be worth a second look Goodluck
  3. Hey guys, I have been a member here for some time, and i have used the search function over and over again, for as much info as i can possibly get before posting this. I own a 88 JDM spec widebody that i have recently registered and is my weekend toy. After owning 4g63 powered starions, the 2.6 is starting to grow on me as the power delivery is totally different to our cars. So after driving it for a while i've discovered a few issues. I have a exhaust leak around the turbo, a crook tps and a injector wire issue that plays up every so often. I now have the injector issue sorted and the car goes well when the tps lets me I would like to give the 2.6 a fair chance so i've decided to do some upgrades before i switch over to my twincam setup i have already. Reading so many mpi threads on here can be a bit contradicting at times, and i am looking for some peoples honest opinions/answers on there actual experiences with doing these upgrades, not just what they have heard or read (sorry if that comes accross rude!). I don't wish to spend a lot of money on this, and i will be using parts i have already lying around my garage. I have a magna head, dizzy and i have a tr magna intake that i got the throttle body position flipped on. It seems that there is no way that the intake will fit on my car as my abs unit will foul. I don't wish to remove the abs, and i'm also concerned about the a/c unit top bolt as it seems very close to the runners on the stock tbi intake now. Has anyone actually run a tr intake on here? If not can you please tell me the next best flowing magna intake.... From what i can research from here for the magna intake mods, you are flipping the tb location, changing the thermostat location to the front, fitting a bracket to hold the throttle cable and adding a few vac ports. Have i missed anything? remember i'm running a magna head so no water port mods needed. I wish to use the original turbo, however i want to fit either a 16g front wheel or maybe a 20g with a new front cover. Do you guys know where i can buy a front cover for a 20g that has the standard wastegate mounting points? Exhaust wise i am running a mookeeh dump and full mookeeh 3 inch exhaust. I will be installing a e6x haltech, bosch 910 fuel pump, 560cc evo injectors, and a evo 6 intercooler that i have had tabs welded on so it mounts in the standard intercoolers location. I keep reading about hard pipe upgrades but cannot find any that suit a mpi car?. I know of the *DM and mookeeh pipes, and if i have to i guess i will use them and just make a custom pipe for the magna intake. In your guys experience, what would be a realistic power figure for this sort of setup on 18-20 psi? Thanks in advance. Shannon.
  4. Hi guys, Just a pic of both my rides, The widey i have posted in here once already. Rims are Intensive Hulks (f)18x9.5 not sure of tyre size i think its a 265/35/18 ®18x10.5 285/35/18. It sits on custom made coilovers with koni adjustables from a 300zx. I run a 25mm hubcentric spacer on the front due to the coilover spring perch touching. The narrow has ROH adrenalin (f)19x7 215/35/19 ®19x7.5 225/35/19 and sits on shortened struts with unknown springs and shocks (still rides really well)These rims were custom made to suit a starion. Hope you like? http://i410.photobucket.com/albums/pp183/www18u/25102010569.jpg http://i410.photobucket.com/albums/pp183/www18u/25102010573.jpg http://i410.photobucket.com/albums/pp183/www18u/25102010571.jpg
  5. Thanks for the positive comments guys. I am not going to drive it that low on the street, i have decided to set the coilovers at a height, were i have the top of the tyre level with the guard. The pics probably make the rims look more flimsy than they really are, i promise there is heaps of meat on there and they come like that from the factory. I am running coilovers with mookeeh front camber plates, and was running them in the rear but the mookeeh ones will not work with my coilovers. Unfortunately my rear quarter has quite servere rust and requires a rust repair section, so i took it back to bare metal and primed and body filled it for now.
  6. I didn't get time to play with the car on the weekend so no new pics, but here is a pic with both types of rims i have. http://i410.photobucket.com/albums/pp183/www18u/Resizesideon.jpg http://i410.photobucket.com/albums/pp183/www18u/Sideondish.jpg As stated before rears are 18x10.5 inch and run 285/35/18 tyres. Ther front in this pic is a SSR rim 16x8 and has 205/55/16 tyres. Here is a pic of my JA with 18s on it but with 8mm spacers. http://i410.photobucket.com/albums/pp183/www18u/cleanstarion2.jpg http://i410.photobucket.com/albums/pp183/www18u/CleanStarion.jpg
  7. Do the bolts on your strut top rub on the top spring perch? It also looks like the top spring perch has been rubbing on the strut top. Could maybe a piece of rubber inserted between the two make it more quiet?
  8. I will add pics of both sets of rims on the weekend, and will chuck them in the sticky thread so i don't ruin this post for others. Thanks for all the pm's and positive comments guys.
  9. The fronts are a 9 inch rim and the rears are a 10.5. Offsets i will have to check for you on the weekend, when i take more detailed pics. The tyres are Falken ziex which is a road tyre. These rims came off a r32 gtr in japan, no spacers required. http://i410.photobucket.com/albums/pp183/www18u/Rearrim.jpg
  10. Im running 265/35/18 on the front and 285/35/18 on the rear. I cannot run a 265 on the front without coilovers, as the spring perch touched the tyre. I can supply pics if needed.
  11. This was not done by myself, It was done by another member on austarion. Pm Silo on austarion or i think silobin on this forum. He is the man who did the rack and pinion conversion aswell.
  12. That rear caliper will bolt straight up to a starion rear strut. The problem i think will be finging a rotor to suit. Brembo pic
  13. How are you going with my postage price?
